Latest Actions in the People’s War in the Philippines
Philippine Revolution Web Central (PRWC) reports that on July 19, in Barangay Apao, Tineg, Abra, clashes between a small squad New People’s Army (NPA) – Augustin Begnalen Command and old State military forces took place, resulting in the elimination of Corporal Drexter Gumayat and the wounding two additional soldiers. Comrade Andrei – combatant of the NPA – fell during combat.
August 2-4, a series of 4-5 encounters between more than a company of AFP-soldiers and a small NPA squad in Barangay Bonglo in Abra, took place. Three combatants of the NPA, comrade Ken, comrade Duma, and comrade Chico, fell in combat.
A clash between a unit of the NPA and reactionary forces took place, on August 1, in Barangay Tigiban, Camarines Norte PRWC reports. The NPA unit was able to maneuver the attempts of the AFP’s attempt to crush them. Since the clash, unrelenting military operations continue in the towns of Camarines Norte.
On July 29, five consecutive clashes took place between a NPA Mindoro unit and two battalions of the AFP in Barangay Del Pilar in Oriental Mindoro, PRWC reports, after the reactionary forces attacked the unit while conducting mass work. Comrade Andeng/Aira, comrade Balowoy/Songling, and comrade Julia fell in combat.
In the “insurgency free” Matuguinao, Western Samar, on July 30, an encounter between an NPA unit and forces of the old State took place. The NPA unit exchanged fire with the reactionary forces for thirty minutes before withdrawing without casualties.
PRWC reports that a unit of the NPA – Eastern Visayas has recently concluded a Basic Political-Military Course training program. PRWC reports that these military exercises are conducted despite the old State of the Philippines’ declarations of Eastern Visayas being “insurgency free.”

PRWC has reported on salutations made for Cristito Nilles Sr., nom de guerre comrade Dogohoy, a fallen combatant and a commander of the NPA – Leonardo Panaligan Command. Comrade Dogohoy was attacked by a sniper as he was eating with his wife, and after retreating, he died from wounds sustained by the shooting. In the statement of the NPA – Leonardo Panaligan Command, the claims of the old State of there being an encounter is denounced as fabrications. In a separate report published on PRWC, the “notorious traitor to the revolution and military agent Renante Misyon (Tiborsyo)” is condemned, as he was one of the soldiers responsible for the attack.
