Germany – Red League: Demonstration Against the Annexation of the GDR
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a call made by Red League in Germany for a demonstration on October 3.
Down with German Imperialism!
On October 3, German imperialists commemorate the “German Unity Day”, when the rulers of the FRG [Translator’s note: Federal Republic of Germany] celebrate their “victory”. October 3 is a day they call “reunification” but it was nothing but an annexation. In reality they celebrate their new Greater Germany, hoping that it will complete the dreams of the Third Reich, seeing themselves as its direct succession.
The GDR [Translator’s note: German Democratic Republic, also known as East Germany] was founded as an anti-fascist State, on the basis of the victory over German fascism, for which many comrades gave their blood, and as a necessary reaction to the founding of the FRG. Later the GDR was taken over by the revisionists. After the annexation of the GDR came the plunder of the East, which brought immense impoverishment with it. The industry was sold out by the Treuhand and almost all leading positions were filled by people from West-Germany. The people in the East of Germany were made to be second-class citizens, and they still receive around a fifth less in wages on average as compared to their class siblings in the West. Correspondingly the majority rejected the “liberation” by the inheritors of Hitler.
The annexation of the GDR has been an important impulse in the aims of German imperialism to convert itself into an imperialist superpower. In this they partook in the imperialist wars of aggression against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Mali. Today they also actively partake in the genocide in Palestine, support the USA in its war against Iran, breaking international law. Drones that massacre the Iranian civilian population are directed through the Rammstein military base. In return they receive cover for its mobilization against Russia in the Baltics.
Still, the German efforts are being defeated again and again, as in Kabul. Today, the people are struggling against imperialism all over the world. In Latin America, Asia and Africa its rule is being shaken by the national liberation movements. The fire of war is spreading in many regions. The People’s Wars in the world illuminate the path of Revolution. The struggle of the peoples is quickly developing all over the world, in uneven development. Imperialism has to take one blow after another. This once again shows the urge of the people of the world and the international proletariat to Revolution. The International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) has written on its banners to contribute to supporting and uniting the anti-imperialist forces, who are active in these struggles.
At the same time we are seeing how German imperialism is slipping ever more in its own crisis, and how its representatives – today with the regime of the fraud Merz – have to run from fire to fire, playing fire brigade. How successful this has been is shown by the results: Crisis of parliamentarism, a profound, ongoing economic crisis lasting years, and the worst approval rating of a chancellor in the history of the FRG.
The plans of German imperialism and this government keep on failing, and they are unable to formulate a strategic plan. At the same time the peoples of the world and the Revolution are advancing. The decomposition is on full throttle and it decays more day by day. The situation in the world and in the FRG are excellent for the revolutionaries.
This October 3, the rulers want to raise their black-red-yellow flag, the inheritance of black-white-red, and the flag with swastika. On this day, let us follow the example of our brothers and sisters all over the world and tear down their flag and make it burn.
