Finland: New anti-imperialist organization in Helsinki

We hereby share the report of the foundation of a new anti-imperialist organization in Helsinki, capital of Finland, published by Punalippu.

Dear friends,

We, the anti-imperialists from different backgrounds in Helsinki, have decided to unite our decentralized efforts to make them more powerful and to impose anti-imperialist viewpoints more consciously to different movements. On this basis, we have formed a new organization, Anti-imperialists – Helsinki. With this organization, we also want to take part in the process for founding the international Anti-imperialist League.

We do not view our work to be in opposition to any other anti-imperialist initiatives, but as complementing them. We want to increase and deepen warm relations with other anti-imperialist organizations and movements in Helsinki, Finland, and all around the world, based on our program, which is attached. To this email is also attached a flyer for our upcoming demonstration, followed by cultural activities. It is also posted on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/antiimperialists_helsinki/

We give our greetings to the international proletariat and the peoples of the world, who are struggling against imperialism.

We particularly want to greet the heroic resistance of the people of Palestine, the people of Lebanon, as well as the other Arab peoples’.

We also want to greet the people’s wars in Peru, India, Turkey, and the Philippines.

Anti-imperialists of the world, unite!

Program of Anti-imperialists – Helsinki

It can, without a doubt, be said that we are living in an unprecedented crisis of imperialism. Wars of aggression, sharpened inter-imperialist disputes, hunger, attacks on the democratic rights gained by the peoples at the cost of blood, rampant inflation – these are just some of the “blessings” of imperialism. Crisis, war, and reaction all throughout the line – these are the “gifts” of this world order.

The peoples of the world, who must bear the hell that these “blessings” and “gifts” bring about, do not want to continue this way. Be it the people of Palestine, the Bangladeshi students and garment workers, or the poor peasants of Brazil, the peoples, and in particular the workers and peasants, have risen up in mighty rebellions that have shaken the very foundations of the bureaucratic-landowner States, cronies of imperialism, and these are mere preludes of the earth-shaking storms that are shaping up.

It is time for us to elevate and strengthen our efforts to be at pace with the needs of the hour. We state as our program the following points:

1. We are against all imperialism and world reaction. We recognize the United States as the sole hegemonic superpower in the imperialist world system, Russia as an atomic superpower, and China as a social-imperialist power. We recognize the ”European Union” as an alliance of imperialists under German hegemony, and we also recognize Finland as an imperialist country.

2. We seek to build principled unity with all consistent anti-imperialist forces in different countries and regions of the world. We see the international process for the ”Anti-imperialist League”¹ as a positive initiative which we support.

3. We support the people’s wars and all armed struggles against imperialism waged by the oppressed nations and peoples, and we vigorously combat the reactionary hoaxes, lies, and disinformation campaigns, which label the just struggles of the peoples as “terrorism”. The real terrorists are the imperialists and their lackeys, the biggest of them all being Yankee-imperialism.

4. As part of our anti-imperialist agenda we are against racism, patriarchy, militarism, fascism, capitalist monopolies, and environmental destruction, and we uphold and defend the following rights of the peoples:

• the Right of Self-determination of the Nations;
• the Right of the anti-imperialist movements to themselves choose their forms of struggle;
• the Rights of freedom of organization, assembly, and opinion for the People in all countries;
• the Rights of the anti-imperialist political prisoners, particularly the recognition of Prisoner of War status for anti-imperialist combatants.

Down with imperialism and all reaction! Long live the peoples of the world!
