MEXICO: FOR DR. ERNESTO SERNAS GARCÍA, EVERYONE TO THE STREETS ON AUGUST 30!

Hereby we share an unofficial translation of an important call published by Sol Rojo Mexico on occasion of the International Day of the Detained-Disappeared and on the 7th anniversary of the disappearance of Dr. Sernas.

Next Saturday, August 30, marks the International Day of the Detained-Disappeared, and as everyone knows, our country faces a terrible figure of over 130,000 missing persons, more than 72,000 unidentified bodies, and tens of thousands of clandestine graves throughout the country. This not only reflects a rising humanitarian and forensic crisis but also makes Mexico the country of disappearances due to the undeniable reactionary war against the people unleashed by the old big landlord-bureaucratic State.

We have mentioned that in other occasions, this reactionary war has gone through at least three phases during its development:

1) Dirty War / PRI (1965-1985)

2) War “against Narco” – militarization / PAN-PRI (2006-2018)

3) Legalization of the militarization and creation of the National Guard as a fourth corp of the reactionary army / MORENA (2018 until today).

It is a counter-insurgent and low intensity war designed in the military headquarters of Yankee imperialism and strictly followed by the Mexican State’s military doctrine. This reactionary war must be understood as a part of the reaction’s general plan and its three central tasks:

a) Greater centralization of the old State (absolute control of the “three powers of the union”, corporativism, imposition of counter-reforms in order to control the masses, etc.).

b) Redinamization of bureaucratic capitalism (imposition of the anti-people’s policies and imperialist mega-projects of loot and death).

c) Drown in blood and fire the rebellion of the masses before its birth (militarization of the economy, industry, public life and formation of a police-military State).

These three central tasks of the reaction’s general plan, and its application by the governments of the self-proclaimed “4T”, let clear the historical truth of the working class and the peoples of Anáhuac: It is right to rebel!

LET’S RAISE THE STRUGGLE FOR ALL THE POLITICAL DISAPPEARED.

Therefore, it is important not to let this significant date go unnoticed, for our comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García and for all the political disappeared in the country and around the world. Also, for all the victims of disappearance in Mexico and their families, particularly the searching mothers who have not given up for a single minute in their demand for truth and justice, facing campaigns of discredit, harassment, threats, and even repression and death at the hands of the State.

It is important to mention that recently, the collectives of searching mothers and families, along with solidarity organizations from across the country, achieved an important democratic victory: the resignation of the tyrant Teresa Reyes Sahagún, who was the head of the National Search Commission of the federal government. A figure who, in addition to lacking the necessary professional profile or expertise, also lacked empathy for the victims and favored the criminalization of missing persons. This woman, like a true bureaucrat and agent of the State, acted deliberately to obstruct the search for the feminist defender Sandra Estefana Domínguez Martínez and our comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, canceling the search for Dr. Sernas more than twice, along with the local search commissioner in Oaxaca, Michel Julián López. Both Teresa and Michel, by playing along with the reaction, have revictimized the families, exposed their integrity, as well as the one from their lawyers and supporters, and publicly revealed their personal information, placing them in a situation of greater vulnerability.

The resignation of Teresa is incomplete without the resignation or dismissal of Michel Julián López from the State Search Commission in Oaxaca. Therefore, this August 30 is a good time to demand his dismissal, along with other heads of local search commissions in the country who do nothing to address the just demands of searching mothers and families.

But beyond the imposed resignation or continuation of anti-people’s figures, and beyond the omission, complicity, and acquiescence of State and federal prosecutors in a crime against humanity such as enforced disappearance, it is important for democratic and revolutionary movements, along with the searching mothers and families, to take to the streets again this August 30, staging a major combative struggle that makes it clear: our struggle is for life, for truth, and for justice. Therefore, the demand for the presentation of the missing alive and punishment for the accountable is non-negotiable.

FOR DR. ERNESTO SERNAS GARCÍA, EVERYONE TO THE STREETS ON AUGUST 30!

Due to that, the family of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García and Current of the People Red Sun call to the democratic organizations, the class consciousness unions and the revolutionary movements; to the collectives of mothers and searching families to take the streets on this August 30 throughout the country.

We call to carry out combative and vigorous actions, with mobilizations, slogans, graffiti, posters, banners which show the faces and names of all of our disappeared, giving them voice, giving fists to their anger and giving feet to the hope.

We will carry out combative actions to demand the presentation alive of our comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, who is professor of the Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca (UABJO), essayist, speaker and researcher; and who moreover was a defender lawyer of the political prisoners of June 7, 2015, accused by the Gabino Cué and Enrique Peña Nieto governments of terrorism and carrying explosives for exclusive use of the Mexican army.

If you want to join this initiative and support the demand of presentation alive of our comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, we invite you to paint the following slogans:

#DrSernasPresentaciónConVida

Ernesto Sernas García, presentation alive!

They took them alive, we want them alive!

Dismissal of Michel Julián López of the Search Commission in Oaxaca!

Those, besides of the general slogans for our disappeared, will be welcomed and help to raise awareness and reinforce our demand of truth and justice, and our legitimate demand of presentation alive, and punishment to the accountable.

You can share pictures, videos and other proves of your activities to the mail cpsolrojo@gmail.com, and they will be published in a special report gathering the actions of August 30.

The case of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García is the latest enforced disappearance for political reasons documented in Oaxaca, and it is the same case as that of thousands of comrades who have been disappeared by the old State in retaliation for their political activities as activists, people’s leaders, students, peasants, or union members, guerrillas, and communists. The case of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García is relevant at the international level and is being addressed by the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances in the Urgent Action 540/2018.

Due to that it is important that this August 30 their names and faces are painted throughout the country, in order that their captors continue listening and seeing them everywhere.

August 30, International Day of the Detained-Disappeared, neither forget nor forgive!
