Report on actions for 25th November in Northern Germany
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Red Women’s Committee, part of the Red League of Germany, led and participated in demonstrations in Bremen and Hamburg, Dem Volke Dienen reports.
In Bremen the demonstration had more than 1000 participants and Dem Volke Dienen writes that it brought “the views of the proletarian revolutionaries on the women’s question to a wide audience.”
Dem Volke Dienen writes: “While the demonstration was conceived more like a memorial service, the comrades marched with a militant and optimistic attitude against imperialism and patriarchal violence.”
While national flags were banned in this years demonstration by the organizators, clearly targeting solidarity with Palestine, in the similarly sized demonstration in Hamburg it had no deterring effect on the demonstrators Dem Volke Dienen reports, and especially the rear of the demonstrations was “filled with young women who, wearing keffiyehs around their necks and some also carrying Palestinian flags”.
The declaration of principles for the Red Women’s Committee was also handed out in the demonstration.
