Turkey: A 70 Year Old Partizan Reader Arrested

In a house raid conducted this morning in Sarıgazi, Istanbul, 70-year-old Hacı Ahmet Kartal, a reader of Partizan, was taken into custody.
In the morning hours, Kartal’s house was raided by police. It was learned that the police detained Kartal, accusing him of “involvement in terrorism.” Kartal’s house was searched by police for hours. Newspapers and books found in his house were confiscated, being declared “forbidden.”
The reason for the detention is not yet known. Kartal, who is 70 years old, is experiencing serious health problems. Diagnosed with dementia, Kartal also suffers from Parkinson’s disease, high blood pressure, and many other illnesses.
