Mexico – On the Day of Heroism

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an extract from the latest Weekly Newsletter published on June 16th by Sol Rojo on the Day of Heroism.

On June 19th, Peru and the entire world will commemorate the Day of Heroism, a date established by the Communist Party of Peru and Chairman Gonzalo as a tribute to the prisoners of war of the Party and the People’s Guerrilla Army (now the People’s Liberation Army) who were massacred by the fascist regime of Alan García in 1986 inside the Frontón and Lurigancho prisons and the Santa Bárbara women’s prison. From then until now, the Day of Heroism has also been known internationally as the International Day of Political and Revolutionary Prisoners of War, calling for the mobilization of thousands of revolutionaries around the world who are fighting in defense of the lives and freedom of their comrades held hostage in the dungeons of capitalism and imperialism.

From Mexico, we raise high the banners of proletarian internationalism, honoring the martyrs of the Day of Heroism in Peru, and joining the call for the release of political prisoners and revolutionary prisoners of war, around the world, particularly Comrade Ahmad Sa´adat, General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and all Palestinians imprisoned in the dungeons of the Zionist entity and in the diaspora; freedom for all activists imprisoned for supporting the Palestinian cause; freedom for all revolutionaries and communists imprisoned by reactionary states and imperialism; and freedom for Comrade Arnulfo García Santos, a SolRojista militant held in the Miahuatlán prison in Oaxaca, sentenced to 35 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

Long live the Day of Heroism!

Freedom for those imprisoned for fighting!
