Peru People’s Movement (MPP): LONG LIVE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY OF HEROISM!
Every year on June 19th, the Day of Heroism is celebrated in Peru and around the world. Established as the International Day of Political and Revolutionary Prisoners of War.
On June 19th, communists and revolutionaries around the world celebrate this date, commemorating the rebellion 40 years ago by the prisoners of war of the Communist Party of Peru. They rebelled in defense of the revolution and their lives against the reactionary forces’ plans to annihilate them and strike a decisive blow against the People’s War.
On this occasion of great historical significance for the communists and masses of Peru and the world, as a token of our tribute and commitment, we republish the Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Peru, which established – in June 1986, Peru – June 19th as the Day of Heroism,
On this day, we wish to share with our comrades in Peru and around the world the final words expressed by Chairman Gonzalo in Tribute to the Heroes of the People, at the First Congress of the Communist Party of Peru (1988), where the Party solemnly assumed the commitment to never lay down its arms until communism. We quote:
“We collect those lives, that example, that blood (heroically shed by the Heroes of the People) and infuse them into our own flesh, so that they may ignite our own minds and ever more strengthen our will – so that this path opened with effort never before seen here and which will be a wonder for centuries – may be the path we follow until we accomplish the task they undertook. The best tribute we can pay them, and are paying them today, is to persist on that path, on that course, and that we do not stop, comrades, as a Party, as a class, as masses. We will continue together with the international proletariat, together with the Communist Parties and the immense masses of the people of the world, and we will not stop until communism. Let that be the serious commitment we assume today, once again, at this Congress in homage to the Heroes of the People.”
Like all these heroes, the glorious belligerent death of the prisoners of war on June 19th, 1986, is sheltered by the blood already shed. In the face of this, we—the communists, the combatants, and the children of the people, armed—make the unwavering commitment to follow their shining example, to serve the world revolution by waging the People’s War until the unfading light of communism shines across the entire globe under the invincible banners of Marx, Lenin, and Mao Tsetung—of the ever-living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Glory to the fallen heroes, long live the revolution!

RESOLUTION OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE
Proletarians of all countries, unite!
DAY OF HEROISM RESOLUTION
Following the path of its predecessor, the reactionary APRA government from its inception carried out genocide against the People’s War, covering it up with high-sounding demagoguery with the complicit support of electoral opportunism, as evidenced by Aqomarca, Umaru, Bellavista, and Llocllapampa; crimes perpetrated by the armed and police forces of the Peruvian State.
The reaction sinisterly targeted the prisoners of war, planning their genocidal annihilation, which took place on October 4th of last year with the cowardly and brutal murder of thirty combatants in the Lurigancho prison; a heinous crime that also went unpunished and which only the triumphant people will punish.
On June 18, 1986, in El Frontón, Lurigancho, and Callao, prisoners of war rose up in rebellion against the new genocide that was underway, after repeatedly denouncing—publicly, before the courts and authorities themselves—the carnage that the government and its armed forces were plotting; They rebelled in defense of the revolution and their own lives, putting forward twenty-six very just and reasonable demands.
On June 19th, the reactionary APRA government led by Alan García, following its grotesque charade of manipulating the so-called “Peace Commission,” unleashed the most heinous and sinister extermination operation; mobilizing the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the police forces under the Joint Command, it carried out the most infamous genocide, murdering hundreds of guerrillas and children of the people who were prisoners of war, once again bathing in the burning blood of the people. May the indelible shame—which the people will never forget and which only they will punish—fall upon Alan García, his Council of Ministers, the Joint Command, and the armed and police forces!
The combatants of the People’s Guerrilla Army, prisoners of war, raised the slogan “It is right to rebel”, fought heroically and valiantly, setting a milestone of heroism, valor, and courage that history will remember as an exemplary demonstration of the heroic men that only the People’s War is capable of producing. Thus, June 19th is forever stamped as the DAY OF HEROISM. The blood of these heroes is already bearing fruit for the armed revolution, igniting it even further, rising like a monumental waving flag and an inexhaustible battle cry calling for the inevitable final triumph.
The glorious belligerent death of these prisoners of war is sheltered by the blood already shed, and in the face of this, we, the communists, the combatants, and the armed sons of the people, assume the unwavering commitment to follow their shining example, to develop the People’s War and serve the world revolution until the unfading light of communism rests throughout the world under the undefeated banners of Marx, Lenin, and Mao Tsetung, of the ever-living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Glory to the fallen heroes, long live the revolution!
