AIL – Section Spanish State: Against Spanish Imperialism and its Murderous Immigration Policy
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by Servir al Pueblo on the 5th of August, issued by the Anti-imperialist League (AIL) – Section Spanish State.
We are deeply saddened to learn that, as of the time of this statement, 88 people have been murdered at the Ceuta border. We say they have been murdered because this is not a natural occurrence, like an accident or a natural phenomenon. The deaths of these sons and daughters of the people are the result of the misery and despair that the imperialists have sown in Morocco throughout its history. Today, hundreds of families anxiously check their phones, waiting for a call, or news of their children who have fled, and the hearts of anti-imperialists, which are moved by what moves the people, are with them before any State.
As anti-imperialists, we recognize two sides in this situation: monopolies and imperialism versus the oppressed poor of the world. For decades, imperialism has plundered the African continent and prevented any kind of political sovereignty for its popular classes; Morocco is no exception. It is a country from which young people flee precisely because of its “lack of future,” where all productive sectors are subservient to the monopolies of the United States and Spain. Nothing remains for Moroccans but the plunder of their lands and a dictatorship imposed by foreign powers.
This situation has worked out wonderfully for the Spanish monopolies, which, while oppressing Morocco, are fueling racism within the Spanish State. The self-proclaimed defenders of the homeland speak of an invasion (a strange invasion, in which enemy soldiers come unarmed to work in sectors with the worst labor rights!). Other sectors further “to the left” speak of a geopolitical strategy of Yankee imperialism, denying the existence of Spanish imperialism, which benefits from this entire situation.
The immediate task for anti-imperialists is to dispel all patriotic illusions and put forward their own message: unconditional solidarity among peoples to unite forces against imperialism—in this particular case, Spanish imperialism. Our Moroccan brothers and sisters will have a future if we commit to standing in solidarity with them from the heart of the beast.
Anti-imperialists of the world, unite!
Down with Spanish imperialism!
Down with the murderous immigration policy of the Spanish State!
