FRANCE – Lannemezan: Great demonstration for the liberation of Georges Abdallah

This Saturday 6th of April the 10th national demonstration for the liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah was celebrated, in front of the Lannemezan prison, called for by the Campagne Unitaire pour sa libération (CupLGIA). Georges Abdallah, anti-imperialist combatant and Lebanese anti-Zionist, has started his 40th year of imprisonment in France, what makes him the political prisoner who has been for the longest time incarcerated in Europe. This year there were more than 2,000 participants in the demonstration, from all the French cities, for this occasion.
The main march gathered a big number of revolutionary determined and combative activists, from the Campagne Unitaire, from the La Cause du Peuple, as well other youth and student organizations (Jeunes Révolutionnaires – JR ; Ligue de la Jeunesse révolutionnaire – LJR ; Fédération syndicale étudiante – FSE), or anti-Zionist groups (Comité Action Palestine ; La Fosse aux Lyons).
Along the gates of the prison several fireworks were thrown towards the building, and also small Palestinian flags. Banners signed by the LJR and the JR were hanged up to support and celebrate the unity of the Palestinian National Resistance. At the end, the activists hanged up a huge Palestinian flag at the high gates of the prison, being supported in this task by all the demonstrators.
