Solidarity actions with Bangladesh from India
The Revolutionary Student’s Union (RSF) made several actions in Kolkota, India, in support of the student protests that took place in Bangladesh recently. We have reported on this topic in the past, on the repression and killings that the Bangladeshi State is carrying out against the protesting masses, led by students, who refuses to accept the change in law that will favor the sons of those who fought in the “war for independence from Pakistan” in 1971.
On 19th of July, students from RSF protested together with other progressive and democratic students and right organizations in front of the Bangladesh Embassy Abhiyan against the genocide. They demand an immediate end of the State’s terror and in support of the protesters in Bangladesh.
As RSF reports, before even starting the march, the police blocked it and made a barricade. Facing it, the students tried to break it and move forward, but the police repressed the protesters and attacked them, including several elderly workers and students and locked them in a police van. They cracked a student’s skull due to the attack. Police arrested 52 protesters and took them to the Lalbazar police station and registered a case.
In their statement, RSF denounces the violence committed, which is an undemocratic behavior that is not the first time showed. They end up calling for the formation of a stronger public resistance against autocratic behavior made by the government.
Previously, on 18th July, RSF put up dazibaos calling on support of the struggle in Bangladesh
