Uprising in Bangladesh

On Thursday the students in rebellion rejected the government proposal for “holding a dialogue” and suspend their protest, while several people were killed by reaction.
Among others the Revolutionary Student-Youth Movement (RS-YM) has called for the protest.
It was reported that at least 10 people were killed and several hundred others injured as members of law enforcement agencies and ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League, BCL, clashed with protesting students in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
Clashes occurred when the law enforcement and BCL went against the protesters who had been enforcing a ‘complete shutdown’ all across Bangladesh. With the latest deaths, a total of 16 people were killed in clashes during these protest on Tuesday and Thursday.
At Mohammadpur, a student of Dhaka Residential Model College was killed. A microbus driver was declared dead after he was taken to Farazy Hospital in Dhaka after he received severe injuries during clashes in the Badda area of the capital. A round mark of wounds was found near the chest on the body of the deceased. More than 100 people, injured in the clashes in Badda and Rampura were brought to hospital.
In Jatrabari, a young man was killed on early Thursday. In Savar, a student from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) was killed during clashes with the police, along with members of the Chhatra League. In Madaripur, at least one student was killed after jumping into a lake as students were chased by the police and Chhatra League activists. A journalist was killed while covering a clash between the police and protesting students at Jatrabari, Dhaka on Thursday.
Fierce clashes were also reported from Tangail, as police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and live rounds to disperse protesters. Around 50 people were left injured. Two students sustained bullet wounds. Students retaliated by throwing bricks at the police turning the entire area into a battlefield. Businesses in the vicinity were forced to close.
