This week many media, including Yankee monopolies such as The Washington Post or The New York Times reported on systematic abuses, torture and gang rapes against Palestinian prisoners at the Sde Teiman prison. This was already widely denounced by the Palestinian Resistance, by the people of Palestine and numerous political prisoners and democratic rights organizations. For example Palestine Chronicle has been regularly reporting on these type of cases. We already reported on a United Nations report which denounced all kind of similar abuses by the Israelis against Palestinian prisoners. In fact, in May there were numerous leaks which detailed cases of tortures and abuses in that same prison of Sde Teiman.

In this case the Yankee media reported that the autopsies revealed a “rampant violence and deprivation in Israel’s prison system.” Numerous cases of torture and murder are detailed: murdered prisoners with their spleen and ribs broken after a beating by the prison guards; prisoners dying due to the lack of treatment for chronic conditions. Moreover, also many tortures and abuses are reported, including rapings, for example with a broom. It is reported how usually the Palestinian prisoners are beaten and they face tortures of lack of sleep and isolation.

Another common aspect of torture and mistreatment of the Palestinian prisoners is to limit their access to water and food. The cells are also overcrowded, forcing numerous prisoners there share miserable quantities of food. Many prisoners have been imprisoned without a reason, in occasions merely because someone supposedly has informed that the prisoner was part of the Palestinian resistance; in other occasions, because they were journalists reporting on the genocidal crimes by the State of Israel in areas as the West Bank.

Former Palestinian prisoners have defined Israeli prisons as Guantanamo, making a reference to the prison of the Yankee imperialist masters of Israel, those who for sure have taught their Israeli lackeys how to torture and murder the prisoners. In other occasions, Israeli prisons such as Meggido are defined as “a graveyard”.

Addameer, prisoners support and democratic rights association, report that there are 9,700 Palestinian prisoners, and from those 250 are children. On this recent case of tortures and abuses, Addameer mentions that “Despite these well-documented cases, 99% of investigations into IOF’s torture and abuse against Palestinians fail to advance, resulting in no accountability or repercussions for the perpetrators.” Moreover they mentioned many other abusive actions such as strip searches in which the prisoners are forced to be in humiliating positions, being insulted and forced to insult each other. Addameer mentions these are cases of “systemic mistreatment and torture”. Samidoun, Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network states that what occurred in Sde Teiman prison “is not an aberration or an unusual case. It is part and parcel of the military system and the use of imprisonment to target Palestinians en masse”.

All of this is part of a terror policy by the State of Israel attempting to frighten the people of Palestine and prevent them to struggle. But these Israeli efforts are useless since the people of Palestine continue combating and resisting at the Gaza Strip and at the West Bank. By unleashing their repression and cruelty, the State of Israel and imperialists have only succeed on keep the resistance of the people, and to spread the hatred of the peoples of the world towards them.
