Ukraine carries out a desperate offensive against Russian imperialism

Recently the Ukrainian forces have undertaken an offensive against Russian imperialism which lasted now for five days and they have penetrated Russian territory and were advancing towards Kursk. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, three days after the beginning of the offensive, stated that “Russia brought the war to our land and should feel what it has done.” On the first days the offensive surprised everyone, including the Russian forces which lost territory, including the first defensive lines of the bordering province with the Oblast of Sumy. But after some successes, now the advances are getting slower or there are even retreats from some previously seized areas. Even Ukrainian media admits this current situation.

On Wednesday, 7th of August, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Ukrainian Forces had crossed the border and he described the operation as a “large-scale provocation”. The Russian reaction has been to impose a security regime in three bordering regions and harshly bomb civil areas such as Kostiantynivka where on Friday 14 civilians were killed and 43 were injured. Most likely it will become harder as the territory attacked and seized by Ukrainian troops is Russian territory and not occupied Ukrainian territory. Moreover Ukraine claims it has downed 27 drones over last night. Russian imperialism has also sent reinforcements to Kursk to attempt to stop the Ukrainian offensive. Meanwhile Yankee imperialism has agreed on sent another military aid package to Ukraine to continue supporting its lackey Zelensky.

This offensive constitutes a desperate attempt to deviate Russian forces from the Donbas region in order to relief the pressure on the Ukrainian military in that region, mostly in Donetsk where most of the main Russian military operations are being carried out and continues the Russian advance towards Niu-York, Kostiantynivka, Chasiv Yar and Pokrovsk. Also bourgeois military analysts are explaining how concerning this operation is, which deviates more efforts from the main front-line and send them towards a dead end as it is not likely that Ukraine can keep the seized territory. The situation there is becoming increasingly critical and even in other regions as Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia there have been advances on the last months even though are not the main frontline. Even Yankee officials have been admitting how critical the situation is. So we are witnessing a tactical movement as the one Russia did for example in Kharkiv with their surprise offensive (which nowadays continue but in a lesser extent and almost no advances), to make the enemy troops focus on this point and make them waste time and efforts.

This doesn’t show a greater strength or an improvement of the Ukrainian situation, although the offensive has embarrassed Russian imperialism quite severe, but it actually shows its weakness as it is a desperate move to release the besieged Donbas region, and an attempt to stop the advance of Russian imperialism, which as we said on February (and it is still valid), is not fast but firm and constant as the situation is increasingly worse for Ukraine.
