Mexico: Weekly Newsletter

We hereby publish an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico of the last Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojistas Mexico.

The International Day of the Detained-Disappeared is commemorated on August 30 and is an important date for the democratic-revolutionary movement, which is in the midst of the war against the people that is occurring in Mexico. This war began in the 60’s of the last century with the so-called “dirty war”, which was a war of annihilation against the armed movement and the people’s movement. From then until now and under the strategy of militarization initiated during the six-year term of the fascist Felipe Calderón, continued by the repressor Enrique Peña Nieto and legalized by the opportunist Andrés Manuel López Obrador, there are already more than 112 thousand people missing in our country: among them, thousands of democrats, revolutionaries, guerrillas and communist comrades, including the 43 normalista students of Ayotzinapa. The next month of September will mark 10 years since their disappearance. Comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García also is among them, who has marked 6 years since his forced disappearance that occurred on May 10, 2018. Precisely the international campaign #DrSernasPresentaciónConVida started on August 30, 2018, in the Auditorium of the Law Center of the UABJO, where our comrade was a professor. As a democratic-revolutionary organization we want to express our entire solidarity with the organizations and families of all the comrades of the armed movement and the people’s movement that have been disappeared by the State. It was the State! In addition we want to express our solidarity with the families and especially with the mothers whose daughters and sons were disappeared by “individuals” in the midst of this reactionary war that has hurt the people of Mexico all over the country, and who are still looking for their children. As corresponds, on August 30, the SolRojistas will march to bring to the streets this demand and do not forget, breaking with comfort of simple statements. Once again, the SolRojistas will bring to reality the slogan of flooding the streets with red flags and turning red the squares demanding the presentation of Dr. Sernas García alive and punishment to those guilty of this crime against humanity. Doctor Ernesto Sernas García… alive presentation! Because they took him alive, we want him alive!
