The first phase of the electoral farce in Brazil will be held on this October 6 and the second phase will be held on October 27. Before those elections, numerous activists have carried out a protracted and powerful campaign of electoral boycott across the country. The newspaper AND has had a very relevant role in that, preparing more than 40 materials during this process. Those materials are detailed reports revealing lies of the electoral candidates, reports of actions done by activists and also the conformation of committees to boycott the electoral farce in several cities. There has been a lot of exclusive information revealed such as cases of illegal funding to electoral campaigns, for example in Curitiba, the support by the “Workers Party” (PT) to candidates associated with paramilitaries in Rio de Janeiro or cases of enrichment by electoral candidates, after previous electoral farces, for example the governor of Recife, who multiplied his wealth for 11 while he was taking away from the people their rights. Bolsonarist candidates and more openly reactionary and violent candidates of latifundium have been denounced, as well as also those who attempted to deceive the people by making it believes that they are the “left”.
This powerful campaign by AND has been fed with a continuous work by activists who made an intense campaign of agitation and propaganda among the people. Since last time we reported, many actions across the country have been carried out, and we hereby resume them. We also attach a map of the states of Brazil to make clear the broadness of the work done.
On September 17 the Support Committee of AND of Vitória, Espírito Santo state, formed a brigade against the electoral farce along with garment workers. Thus, 29 numbers of the issue number 256 of AND were sold, as well as they spread leaflets and more than 100 editorials from AND were distributed. The propaganda activity was welcomed by the workers with who they spoke.
In the middle of September activists gathered in São Paulo in an event organized by the FRDDP on the electoral farce and they formed a Boycott Committee in the area. Activists from the Women’s People’s Movement (MFP) and from the Revolutionary People’s Student Movement (MEPR) attended.
On September 21 activists of the Committee to Boycott the Electoral Farce in São Paulo region carried out an action in the city-center of the capital. They called to do not vote and to struggle for the revolution while they deployed a banner.
Also in São Paulo, on September 30 activists carried out an action to call to boycott the local elections and to struggle for revolution, distributing more than 400 leaflets. The workers and passers-by denounced the electoral farce as well as there was a useless attempt to deter and bring away the activists by the private security of the area.
In Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, members of the recently formed Support Committee to AND carried out a propaganda campaign at the city-center against the electoral farce. They received a broad support and they came to know by the people that the credibility of the electoral farce among the masses is very low.
On October 2 activists from the Committee to Boycott the Electoral Farce of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, carried out an action to support the electoral boycott in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). First they were encouraging the students to support boycott by holding a banner and shouting slogans with a megaphone. After that they distributed leaflets among students and denounced the opportunist and conciliator governor of the PT.
Also on October 2 en Macatuba, São Paulo, activists of the Support Committee of AND in the area, put up around 80 posters all over the city, encouraging the people to boycott. The action rose the curiosity and support from the local inhabitants who broadly shared those posters through social media.
Moreover, we have been reporting on actions done in so different and far away from each other places such as Ceara, Rondônia or Amazonas, making clear the broadness of this campaign carried out.
