Statement by the CupLGIA after the national demonstration on December 21
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah that we have received. We also share the pictures of the report.
Dear friends, dear comrades,
we report of the great success of the national demonstration for the liberation of Georges Abdallah, called by the Unitary Campaign, this Saturday, December 21, 2024, two days after the hearing at the court of appeal whose deliberations will be announced in two months, on February 20.
While, as it happens sometimes, some persist taking the minimum figures that the police communicate, much more are those who have taken part in the demonstration and are announcing today on social media 4,000 demonstrators, coming from all over France but also from Belgium and Germany.
There were many sections of the Unitary Campaign and the Students Union Federation who made the travel whether from Nantes, Rennes, Toulouse, Montpellier, Marseille, Nice, Caen, Limoges, Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Lille and from Paris and its region but there were also many organizations to put their commitment into action which they had made by signing the appeal supporting this national event: we hereby express to them our gratitude!
So it is in an extremely procession dense and compact, combative and determined and particularly unitary that all present took up tirelessly and with enthusiasm and strength the very numerous slogans which rose along this new demonstration, from the square from the Republic to the square in front of the Center Georges Pompidou in the very heart of Paris.
Demonstration once again the intensification and the scale of the campaign for mobilizing for Georges Abdallah and his network throughout the national territory because even if unfortunately, certain collectives and committees supporting our comrade and Palestine were not able to make the trip they had however made last October 26 for the national demonstration in Lannemezan, everyone also wanted to express their desire not to give up by organizing gatherings at the local level as was the case for example in Pau, Grenoble, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Annecy and even internationally.
Let us remember! In April 2023, Georges declared: “Certainly, today like yesterday, the release of revolutionary prisoners is a priority duty; it has always been a moment of great popular excitement and participation most significantly under the influence of the Palestinian revolution (…) Comrades, lets tackle these tasks! And if necessary, let us remind everyone loudly that it is the most sacred duty and that every revolutionary must be acquitted! Let us be worthy of the epic torchlights of freedom, these indomitable resistance heroes captive in Zionist jails! Let’s free them!”
Today may these words continue to resonate within us for all Palestinian prisoners but also and as a “priority duty” of our own struggles and commitments for the liberation of our Georges Abdallah! Let’s be worthy of them! Let us be worthy of him!
So yes, between now and February 20, may a thousand initiatives flourish and set at the forefront of all our struggles and solidarity, the demand of the release of Georges Abdallah. Let’s free him! And just like last 24th October, we organized gatherings in around twenty cities; just like in Lannemezan there were more than 4,000 of us; like November 14, we gathered again, this time in more than 35 cities; like November 30, we were more than 2,000 in the regional demonstration in Paris; just like December 6, 10 universities blocked and in 8 others meetings for Georges Abdallah; like December 12 and 13, around ten prefectures were targeted by coordinated actions by pro-Palestinian activists; like the week of December 16 was declared a week of action and support for Georges Abdallah; just as we gathered massively this December 21 for this great national event, let’s move again and let us commit all our strength and all our energy to the new battle-plan of the Unitary Campaign, show strength and make the detention of Georges Abdallah for the French State a heavier price to pay than his release!
Let’s intensify, let us amplify and coordinate our mobilization ever more:
– During the next days of action on the 8th and 25th January.
– During a week of action and a new national demonstration at the beginning of February.
– And during coordinated gatherings everywhere in France on February 19 on the eve of the decision of the court of appeal which must be non-appealable for the effective release of our comrade!
On February 20, Georges Abdallah must be released!
Let’s continue the combat! Let’s free George Abdallah!
Palestine will live! Palestine will win!
Together and only together we will win on February 20!
