Some news from Brazil

We share some recently published news by the democratic newspaper A Nova Democracia:

The National Campaign in Defense of the Agrarian Revolution starts

Revolutionary students have started the National Campaign to “demolish” the walls of the University to “uphold” the Agrarian Revolution in the city, as the students itself explained. Organized in the People’s Revolutionary Student’s Movement (MEPR), Student’s Collective Sons of the People (CEFP) and Dawn of the People, the students published a call that can be read here:

The students also explained to A Nova Democracia that they will turn the Universities and other spaces into truly “sounding board” of this struggle to break with opportunism, who tries to “twist the real contradictions that live in Brazil”.

The students also call other organizations that wants to participate in the campaign to contact them. They have published a poster and agitations will be done under the slogan “Long live the Agrarian Revolution!”

Homage to Professor Fausto Arruda in Barro Branco

“‘Comrade Fausto Arruda, present!’ read the banner that was hung at the Popular Assembly of Barro Branco, where peasants, supported by the League of Poor Peasants (LCP), paid tribute to Professor Fausto Arruda, who recently passed away. We have previously published about his importance in the struggle in Brazil in the following article:

During the first intervention, a comrade from the Popular Women’s Movement spoke about his life and activism, especially in the construction of Popular Schools alongside the peasants in Rondônia. A lot of support was shown to his speeches, particularly when he encouraged the struggle against the old system of exploitation and urged not to vote, which brought support, as reported by AND.

His importance as the founder and general director of AND for 20 years was also remembered, being fundamental for popular and democratic press coverage of the popular struggle in Brazil and the world.

The event concluded with the slogan ‘Professor Fausto Arruda, present!”
