Partizan’s statement for the 1st of May
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by Partizan.
Let’s Take Courage in the Struggle of the Working Class, Let’s Unite and March to Taksim on 1st of May in Istanbul!
We are in the days leading up to 1st of May, 2025. Despite the positive attitude of the young masses in particular, discussions about the location in Istanbul continue in a manner that defies prohibition. We are taking a stance in favor of supporting the Taksim tendency that we have detected among the masses. Let’s turn our faces to Taksim and reject the square ban together with the people.
Those who have always recognized and defended the value of Taksim for 1st of May choose to ignore this tendency among the masses. However, this is a real option for everyone. It is possible to turn to Taksim with the masses today. We are turning our faces to Taksim to respond to the awakening of our people.
The rulers want a system where only they organize and speak, where all tyranny is submitted to them, and they try everything to achieve this. Facing this and declare that we are the people: we got rights, we got demands, we got problems; we are angry because we are under oppression. We want to organize, speak, and march for our rights. That is why we were in Saraçhane; we broke through the police barricades that were in our way put in front of us, and that is why we stood up all over the country. We told those who try to silence our voices, you can’t do that, to those who say we can’t seek our rights we’ll do it, to those who say we can’t march, we’ll march…
Today, all political movements that refuse to turn their faces to Taksim on 1st of May in Istanbul, will divide the will of the people with the decisions they make. We must express once again that we have to “win the mass initiative” in order to win Taksim. We were on this path when we were in Saraçhane last year, and before that when we were in Maltepe. This is the path we will insist on following, standing by the advanced segments of the masses.
We are in favor of paving the way for the will of the mass of Taksim. We will fulfill this responsibility by meeting with the masses and making Taksim the main agenda wherever possible. We believe that the more we turn our faces to Taksim, the more Taksim will be won. We call on all revolutionary-democratic components and the advanced segments of the masses to achieve this and walk this path.
The hope for the liberation of all peoples lies in 1st of May, the struggle of the working class.
Let us march to Taksim on 1st of May with all the courage of our rebellion against tyranny.
