Popular and Revolutionary Organizations call for the 1st of May in São Paulo, Brazil
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a Manifesto calling to the 1st of May which has been shared by A Nova Democracia. The Manifesto has been jointly made by the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL), the Workers’ League (LO) and the Class-Consciouss Movement of Workers of Education (MOCLATE).

LONG LIVE THE DAY OF PROLETARIAN INTERNATIONALISM!
CALL OF UNIFIED EVENT!
Children facing hunger; slums and favelas being evicted in the name of the profits of the rich; workers, teenagers, and even children being killed and tortured by police forces; increasingly exhausting workdays with stagnant wages; rampant crime in cities and in the countryside; absurd prices for basic food items; lack of job opportunities and increasingly harsh living conditions for families. These are just some of the symptoms of the decay of the current political and economic system in our country and around the world. They are all consequences of the domination of imperialist powers like the United States over the oppressed countries of Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Brazil.
In our country and around the world, we have seen all kinds of crimes committed by the ruling classes and their lackey governments against the popular masses, such as the implementation of the infamous 6×1 work schedule that forces workers to survive without the possibility of resting, having leisure time, studying, or spending time with their families, all for miserable wages that do not guarantee even the basic needs. Just as workers in sectors like industry and telemarketing have risen up to struggle against the 6×1 schedule, delivery workers are also setting an example of combativeness, independence, and class consciousness by organizing national strikes and forcing employers to listen to their voices, and they are strengthening their organization for their fundamental rights.
We are also witnessing a huge increase in genocide against the poor and Black Brazilian people, in the favelas and the outskirts of big cities, as well as in the countryside against peasants and Indigenous people in their sacred struggle for land. Every year, we see the number of people murdered by the old State rise simply for being poor, while the real criminals continue to act with impunity.
In this situation of severe general crisis, we need more than ever to raise high the flag of the 1st of May International Workers’ Day, as a sacred banner for all working and oppressed men and women in the world struggling for their rights, drawing inspiration from the heroic example set by the Palestinian people in resisting the oppressor until the last drop of blood, regardless of the difficulties, with the certainty that there is still hope and justice for the popular masses. 1st of May is not a day of celebration or flattery; it is a day of struggle! Quite the opposite of what the traitors of the false left and the emboldened thieves of the right want us to believe. We will never lower our flags; our cause is sacred, and on the relentless path of struggle against imperialism and all its lackeys, we will certainly triumph!
The Anti-Imperialist League, the Workers’ League, and MOCLATE call on students, workers, laborers, street vendors, progressives, and revolutionaries in São Paulo, as well as all those who are in revolt against the situation in our country and the world under the domination of imperialist powers, to join the political event for the end of the 6×1 work schedule, in support of the Breque dos Apps, for the end of the massacres and criminal evictions in the favelas across the country, demanding justice for Ngagne Mbaye and raising our full support and solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people. This event will take place at Praça da Liberdade (Metro Japão-Liberdade station exit) at 2:30 PM on 1st of May. We will also participate in the unified event called by VAT at 9 AM on Avenida Paulista for the end of the 6×1 work schedule and invite all supporters of this struggle to join.
We appeal to all organizations, associations, entities, and progressive, democratic, and revolutionary individuals who agree on the need to rescue the tradition of independent and combative struggle on 1st of May to join our manifesto, actively participate in this struggle, and spread it as widely as possible. The struggle against imperialism and for the fundamental rights of all workers is a hard and protracted struggle that can only succeed through the unity of truly progressive forces in defense of the sacred banners of struggle of all oppressed peoples and classes in the world. IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL!
