Resistance Combatants Destroy 4 Merkava Tanks in Defensive Actions

Amid continued violations of the ceasefire by Israel, through strikes and continued occupation of southern Lebanon, Hezbollah continues their resistance, carrying out multiple defensive actions in the past week, one of which destroyed 4 Israeli Merkava tanks.

According to a statement released by the resistance, an Israeli convoy consisting of eight armored vehicles was moving from the town of Taybeh toward the old al-Sal’a outpost near Deir Seryan on the 19th of April when it detonated pre-planted explosives. 4 Merkava tanks were destroyed, and were seen engulfed in flames following the explosions, Al-Mayadeen reports.

According to the Israeli military, one soldier was eliminated and nine others were injured in an operation in southern Lebanon, bringing the total of acknowledged eliminated Israeli soldiers since the invasion of Lebanon on the 2nd of March to 15, .

The Israeli military command announced that its forces will operate in a so-called “advanced defense zone” within southern occupied Lebanon, extending from Ras al-Bayyada on the coast to Shebaa in the east. The zone is seen as a prelude to a prolonged Israeli occupation and an attempt to push settlers into Lebanese territory, Al-Mayadeen reports.
