Norway – Kampkomiteen: Forward to an Anti-imperialist May Day
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the May Day statement published by Kampkomiteen on 29th of April.
Workers and oppressed people of all countries, unite!
Forward towards an anti-imperialist May Day!
Kampkomiteen calls on all anti-imperialists and revolutionaries—workers, women, and youth—all democrats and opponents of unjust wars, to unite on May 1st in powerful demonstrations against imperialism.
On the occasion of the working class’s international day of struggle, May Day, Kampkomiteen greets workers in all countries and the world’s oppressed peoples and nations. We celebrate and salute the founding of the Anti-Imperialist League, which took place April 3–5 in Colombia. Fifty organizations from 14 countries gathered there to establish a new international organization to unite the world’s anti-imperialists in a common struggle.
Imperialism is dying
Imperialism today is marked more than ever before by its own decay and crisis. We live in an era increasingly characterized by imperialist war, popular uprisings, just resistance struggles, and revolution. US imperialism is fighting tooth and nail to defend its position as the world’s sole hegemonic superpower. This struggle manifests itself in wars of aggression abroad and increased oppression within the US. We see this, for instance, in the war against Iran, the genocide in Palestine, and in ICE’s Gestapo-like raids in the US.
Israel, the Zionist lackey of US imperialism, continues to commit unspeakable crimes against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. The heroic Palestinian resistance and Hezbollah in Lebanon continue their fearless struggle for national liberation from Zionist occupation and genocide. This struggle has lit a torch that shines across the world, inspiring tens of millions to take to the streets and demonstrate their outrage and determination to fight against imperialism and Zionism.
The Iranian people have defended themselves just as heroically against the criminal war waged by the US and Israel, and Iran has forced US imperialism to the negotiating table by taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. Thus, the war has hit the global economy hard, and particularly in countries like Pakistan and India, the masses and the authorities are paying a high price for US imperialism’s latest aggression against the masses in the so-called “Middle East.” This “energy crisis” is a warning that new catastrophic economic crises lie ahead.
US imperialism is also constantly carrying out new acts of aggression against its own “backyard,” Latin America, where, in blatant disregard for international laws and regulations, they kidnapped President Maduro of Venezuela. At the same time, they have intensified the embargo against Cuba and created more hunger and hardship in this island nation. They have also bombed both Ecuador and Colombia. All of this is part of US imperialism’s aggression against all of Latin America.
Through its countless acts of aggression, its crimes, and its genocides, US imperialism demonstrates time and again that it is the main enemy of all the world’s oppressed peoples.
The people fight and resist
All this aggression is unleashed by the imperialist superpower to impose ever-greater burdens on the world’s oppressed peoples and nations, but this generates ever-stronger struggle and resistance from the masses. The world’s oppressed peoples refuse to accept that they are merely victims of the imperialists’ plunder and war, and pawns in their game. The masses rise up again and again in heroic struggles to liberate themselves. We see this in just national resistance wars, liberation wars, and people’s wars, from Palestine and Iran to Peru, Turkey, India, and the Philippines. In Ukraine, too, the oppressed nation is fighting against imperialist aggression, and the people are rising up in resistance against the imperialists’ ravaging and plunder in the Sahel region, Sudan, the Congo, Kenya, and other parts of Africa.
What drives development and change in our world more than anything else is the struggle between oppressors and the oppressed—the struggle between the imperialist powers on one side and the world’s oppressed peoples and nations on the other. Kampkomiteen has chosen a side in this struggle, and we call on all revolutionaries, anti-imperialists, internationalists, and democrats to stand with us on May 1.
The big question is not what the imperialists are doing, or what wars they will unleash, but how the masses can organize, fight, and resist in order to wipe the entire imperialist system off the face of the earth. This is not a dream; it is a historical necessity. The system is rotting before our eyes, and it inflicts great suffering on billions of people. Imperialism can never become “humane.” As long as this system persists, war and crisis will be part of everyday life for a large portion of the world’s population.
It is in this situation that those who rise up to fight, and pay the highest price, lead the way like shining torches, showing the path for all the world’s oppressed classes, peoples, and nations. The revolutionary movement in India is one of these torches. The heroic liberation movement in Palestine is another. Over the past years, they have paid an unimaginably high price to keep the banner of struggle flying high.
Israel has carried out a genocide in Gaza, before the eyes of the entire world. This has sparked immense outrage across the globe, and tens of millions have protested. Despite the genocide, the resistance has continued. The Palestinian armed national liberation movement has continued to inflict heavy losses on the Zionists, and Israel is more hated and condemned internationally than ever before. The Palestinian people have won an enormous moral victory by never giving up, and they have shown that no matter what Israel does, the Palestinian people will produce new fighters to take the place of those who fall. This courage and willingness to sacrifice make the Zionists and imperialists tremble with hatred and fear, for it is precisely this that threatens their power.
The old Indian State has learned from its masters and role models in the US and Israel. For decades, the reactionary Indian State has sought to eradicate the revolutionary movement in India. In recent years, it has carried out “Operation Kagaar,” involving rape, torture, executions, and genocide against India’s poorest and their revolutionary leaders. In 2025, they killed the leader of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), Comrade Basavaraj, because he refused to surrender. The old Indian State has inflicted heavy losses on the movement in India, and on March 31, 2026, declared that India was free of Maoists. But the struggle continues in India as well! The old State’s mercenaries continue to fall to explosive charges and ambushes in the Indian countryside. Revolutionary students and intellectuals continue to mobilize for the struggle. Tens of thousands of poor peasants are gathering to bid farewell to their murdered comrades; they clench their fists and prepare for new battles. The martyrs did not die in vain. Their actions and their memory live on in the struggle; like shining torches, they dispel the darkness and illuminate the path ahead that all oppressed classes and peoples must follow.
The oppressed will triumph
As long as people have oppressed other people, the oppressed have risen up to fight and resist. Rulers have always tried to drown this struggle in blood, but their attempts to retain power have ultimately always failed. The Roman Empire was bound to fall, and it fell to the struggle of the Slavs and the Germanic tribes. Then the Spanish and Portuguese colonial empires fell, and later still the German, Ottoman, and Russian empires. The British Empire also fell, though this too was accompanied by violent convulsions and genocide against the masses in Africa and Asia. Empires always fight most desperately and brutally as their downfall approaches.
This is what we see before us today: the death throes of rulers doomed to be swept away. It will not happen peacefully, it will not happen on its own, but it will inevitably happen. Just as surely as time cannot be turned back, imperialism will be swept away by the working class and the world’s oppressed peoples and nations. How long it will take depends on the unity and struggle of the working class and the world’s oppressed peoples and nations.
Anti-imperialists in our country and in countries like this must unite with all the oppressed who are fighting against imperialism today. We must support and defend the national liberation movement in Palestine and fight against genocide. We must oppose US and Israeli aggression against Iran and support the Iranian people’s just national war of resistance. We must condemn US imperialism’s aggression and threats in Latin America. We must support the revolution in India, which is under fierce attack by the enemy. These struggles cannot be stopped by attempts at annihilation and genocide—the struggles continue, and new comrades take the place of those who have fallen. This is a powerful call to the peoples of the world that imperialism will ultimately fall if we unite and fight. Join us on May 1st, take to the streets, and strengthen unity and the struggle against imperialism across all borders and countries!
Workers and oppressed people of all countries, unite!
USA—hands off Iran! USA out of the Middle East!
USA—hands off Venezuela and Cuba! USA out of Latin America!
Support the people’s struggle in India—for social and national liberation!
Anti-imperialists of all countries, unite!
