Criminals of the G7 Summit: #6 Italy

Once again, imperialist forces will rear their ugly heads and gather at the yearly G7 summit that will be held in Évian-les-Bains, France. As they attempt to subject the peoples of the world to their domination, exploitation and murderous aggression, they are facing the growing resistance of the peoples of the world. In response to this summit a mass demonstration has been called in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Group of Seven, or G7, gathers the sole hegemonic imperialist superpower and six of the richest imperialist powers operating within the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and consists of the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and Italy. Each year they gather to discuss and plan economic, political and military strategy, sharpening their blades for yet another repartition of the world.

But who are the participants of this summit?

Italy

IImperialist colonizer, war criminal, torturer, war monger and enemy of the people, carrying out unspeakable crimes in its wars of colonization in Africa, war crimes in its assault on Yugoslavia, Greece and Albania during WW2, or its ongoing criminal participation in the Genocide in Gaza.

• Supplier of the Israeli genocide on Palestine, with 13.7 million EUR worth of arms exports yearly. This comes on top of the criminal repression against the Palestinian solidarity movement in Italy, which have carried the torch of resistance high with among many other actions, the million people-strong national strike carried out last year demanding a cessation of State support for Israel.
• Colonizer of the oppressed, carrying out massacres and war crimes in its attempts to subjugate the people of Libya, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Albania, Yugoslavia and Greece, in a bloodthirsty search for the land and profits of other peoples.
• Orchestrator of massacres, in fruitless attempts, doomed to fail, of crushing the heroic resistance of its many colonies. As with the use of chemical weapons against the Ethiopian people and its heroic resistance, murdering at least 500,000 people, or the massacres carried out against the Libyan resistance. The people of Ethiopia defeated and sent the Italian occupier running, massing 100,000 people in a war of liberation, showing that a people that dares to struggle, dares to win.
• Exploiter of oppressed countries, through its efforts to increase its imperialist plunder through trade agreements that further develop semi-colonial conditions in Italy’s interests, as we can see with the recent trade agreements with India, not hesitating to use the genocidal old Indian State to defend its interests.
• In line with its imperialist nature, Italy is once again massing for war, increasing its military budget by 7% since last year with a 45,3 billion EUR, preparing once again for the imperialist repartition of the world.

As Italy masses its forces in an attempt to defend and conquer new spoils in new imperialist wars of repartition, and as they rally behind the genocide carried out against Palestine, they too, will participate in the upcoming G7 summit. As it grows nearer, any democratic, progressive and anti-imperialist organization or individual will heed the call and take to the streets against the G7 summit.
