France – Jeunesse Communiste: Down with imperialism! Down with the G7!
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement published by the Jeunesse Communiste on the 13th of June.
Workers of the world, unite!
Formed in response to the 1973 oil crisis, the G7 is a moribund club led by the United States with the aim of ensuring the dominance of its financial capital, its monopolies, and its military-industrial complex.
Ahead of this imperialist summit, organized this year by France, the powerful are panicking and stepping up their security measures, notably along the French-Swiss border. Military presence, systematic searches, customs officers—the number of personnel at the borders has increased tenfold (from 60 to over 800 agents), leading to the creation of a new “Rapid Border Intervention Force.”
Aircraft, anti-drone systems, 21 out of 26 roads closed… In short, colossal resources deployed to protect the heads of various governments from the just and legitimate anger of the masses, who continue to grow in number and organize.
In addition to the usual seven powers (the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, and Japan), the imperialist powers of Western Europe are also invited to participate in this summit, under the guise of the European Union. This sinister summit is one of the main opportunities for heads of government to establish their common imperialist plans, particularly against Russian and Chinese competition. And that is why it will be a matter of common military, political, and economic strategies for the new division of the world, thereby developing their methods and policies of aggression and exploitation against oppressed peoples and also against all the others, in an attempt to secure their imperialist and capitalist interests.
Since the 1990s, the anti-G7 movement has been part of a history of anti-imperialist struggle, marked by large demonstrations in France, the United States, Spain, and Italy.
Furthermore, it is clear that reformism is not a viable path to counter the ongoing processes leading toward war. The bourgeoisie dreams of sending the youth to the front lines for its own interests, but it will never be as successful as it thinks; it will encounter a youth determined to put an end to exploitation, war, and the misery that imperialism inevitably brings.
This year, as the imperialist powers attempt to subjugate the peoples of the world under their domination, it is our duty to make them understand our anger, to make them feel our resistance to their aggression, and to ensure that this counter-summit goes down in the history of anti-imperialism.
We, the Communist Youth, recall the importance of the anti-imperialist struggle to be waged on an international scale and our role within this struggle. Indeed, the time for waiting is over, and our response cannot be delayed! That is why we call for a massive turnout at the great international demonstration in response to the G7 summit taking place on June 14 in Geneva.
Today more than ever, proletarians and anti-imperialists of all countries, unite!
