Turkey – Joint Statement Against the NATO Summit in Ankara: You Are Not Welcome!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a joint statement by anti-NATO forces in Turkey shared by Partizan on June 20th.
YOU ARE NOT WELCOME!
The leaders of NATO, the bloody criminal organization of imperialism, are preparing to come to our country in July.
We do not want NATO and its representatives – whom we know from its dismemberment of Yugoslavia, its attacks on Libya and Afghanistan, and its counter-guerrilla activities, political operations, and coups targeting progressive forces in Turkey and around the world – on our soil.
We do not want the rogue Trump, who is complicit in the ongoing genocide in Palestinian territories, who murders innocent girls in Iran, who kidnapped the President of Venezuela, who threatens Cuba every day, and who attacks left and right in an effort to preserve the US hegemony, on our soil!
We do not want Tom Barack, Trump’s envoy and a friend of the predator Epstein, who insulted the people of the region by saying ‘You deserve a monarchy, not a democracy’, on our soil!
We will not allow plans to add new wars and occupations.
The AKP government, representing the interests of the bourgeoisie, derives its legitimacy from Trump, as Tom Barack himself stated, and may seek to close down the capital to in order to serve the imperialists. The AKP government, together with its imperialist allies, cannot tolerate even the smallest shred of democratic rights, freedoms, and gains of the working class; it wants to trample them underfoot and completely destroy them.
Imperialism, with its military, its bases, and NATO, seeks to force a new straitjacket upon our region and create new cannon fodder.
NATO, Trump, Barack, military bases, the Palace, and all your collaborators… None of you are wanted on this land or anywhere else in the world! You will see how the struggle and anger against imperialism will manifest in the streets.
All NATO bases must be closed! We must withdraw from NATO immediately! NATO, the world’s largest organization of war and aggression, must be dismantled!
The arms race, which is the preparation for the bloody wars over the partition of the world, must be stopped! The enormous budgets diverted from the most basic needs of working people, from education to healthcare, from housing to social rights, towards armament, must be ended!
We as workers, laborers, women, youth, and intellectuals who defy imperialism, stand united. We stand shoulder to shoulder with those fighting against imperialist wars and massacres across the globe, with those resisting right-wing governments that incite war, and with the tens of millions flooding the streets to oppose the support for genocidal Israel.
Zionism and its supporters, the occupying murderers, may be friends of the Palace. We stand up for our honor, our country, and all the peoples of the world.
Starting with Ankara—where the summit is scheduled to take place on July 7th– 8th — we will raise our voices for peace and on behalf of the people against NATO and imperialist policies across Turkey. We will amplify our voice in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Malatya, and everywhere where imperialism exists.
While our innocent brothers and sisters are being killed in Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria at the behest and with the support of the imperialists, we do not want our region to become the epicenter of new policies of war and destruction.
We call upon the workers, women, youth, and intellectuals of this country to raise our voices; we call on all our citizens to stand up against imperialism and to organize a response that will make it clear to NATO’s imperialist war summit and its representatives that they are not welcome!
