On June 21st, an Anti-imperialist League (AIL) – Section France conference was held at the International Center for Cultural Projects in Paris, as part of the campaign against French colonialism. This conference was convened by AIL – Section France and Ka Ubuntu, gathering approximately 50 participants. Among those present were representatives from the Committee for the Reconstitution of the Communist Party of Corsica, the Student Union Federation (FSE), the Communist Youth (JC), and the Committee for Support of the Revolution in the Philippines (CSRP).

In the opening segment, AIL – Section France reaffirmed that imperialism is in crisis, with revolution being the prevailing trend. They emphasized that in France’s direct colonies—Corsica, Réunion, Kanaky, Guadeloupe, and Tahiti— being organized.

Ka Ubuntu delivered a speech that revealed the nature of departmentalization of the French colonies, which, masked as integration, is a tool to keep the Réunion- Island under French domination. The speech also called for the unification of the struggling peoples of the world, particularly on the African continent.

The Committee for the Reconstitution of the Communist Party Corsica widened, through a video statement, the understanding of Corsica, an island which is a target of land grabbing and abject poverty. The French State has, in the face of resistance, relied on mafia networks, harassment and arbitrary arrests. Demands for the immediate release of these political prisoners were raised.

The FSE and JC made interventions on the youth issue, denounced the racist “Welcome to France” initiative and highlighted the importance of truly supporting national liberation struggles. The JC also made a note of the expansion of Voluntary Military Service, preparing the youth in working-class neighborhoods for the upcoming imperialist war.

In later discussions the CSRP raised concerns about French involvement in the counter-revolutionary war waged in the Philippines.

The audience participated in the discussions and chanted historical slogans such as ‘Algeria has won, Kanaky will win!’ and ‘Vietnam has won, Réunion will win!’; The understanding of the two main currents of the world revolution strengthened among the participants.
