Released Order Issued for the Three Remaining Partizan Readers Imprisoned Due to NATO Protest

Release Order Issued for 3 Partizan Readers Held by NATO Operations

A decision was issued to release three Partizan readers who were arrested during NATO operations.

In Ankara, Faik Hamarat, Rümeysa Ay, and Vuruşkan Fındık—Partizan readers who were arrested, on June 26, as part of NATO operations and taken to prisons in Sincan—appeared before a judge for the first time today.

Separate cases have been filed against all the detained Partizan readers on charges of “membership in an organization.” During the hearings held at the Ankara 4th High Criminal Court, the Partizan readers were questioned about the democratic protests they had participated in.

Responding to the allegations against them, the readers stated that opposing NATO and participating in May Day and International Women’s Day protests are not crimes.

Following the defenses, the court panel issued a release order for all three.

Faik Hamarat and Vuruşkan Fındık are expected to be released from Sincan No. 1 F-Type Prison, while Rümeysa Ay is expected to be released from Sincan Women’s Closed Prison. Thus, there are no longer any Partizan readers detained in Ankara in connection with NATO.
