Chile: Demonstration on the 53rd Anniversary of the Coup d’État

The Newspaper El Pueblo has shared the call by the Class-conscious and Popular Coordination on the 53th anniversary of the coup d’État in Chile.

The Class-conscious and Popular Coordination writes: “For us, remembrance is an act of defiance and resistance against the opportunism of those who use this date solely to commemorate the defeat of their reformist faction. We, on the contrary, continue to believe in the inherent strength of the masses and the people; we continue to believe in organization and popular protest, as well as in the historical methods through which the working class and the people have been able to achieve a better life throughout history.”

Norway – Kampkomiteen: Actions and Call for an Open Meeting on the 20th Anniversary of the Police Murder on Eugene Obiora

Over the past week in Norway, several actions have been carried out mobilizing for a demonstration and an open meeting marking the 20th anniversary of the murder on Eugene Obiora by Trondheim police.

Kampkomiteen writes that Eugene Obiora was murdered by the Trondheim police on September 7, 2006, as he was applying for economic aid in order to buy a birthday present for his son. After the aid was denied, Obiora got justifiably agitated, which led the employees to contact the police. The police arrived, and strangled Obiora to death. The officers involved were never punished, and some were even promoted.

Kampkomiteen in Trondheim has called for a demonstration to be held today, at 13:00, under the slogan “Justice for Obiora!”

Kampkomiteen and Bergen4Palestine in Bergen, are mobilizing for an open meeting on the 20th anniversary, to be held on September 7, at Kulturhuset Danckert Krohn, Kong Oscars gate 54, at 18 p.m.

In Trondheim, leaflets were handed out and posters were put up, mobilizing for the demonstration.
