Yankee Imperialism Claims First Land Attack on Venezuela

On December 29, US government president Donald Trump claimed that a first land attack had been carried out against Venezuela, which reportedly took place in a port area, according to A Nova Democracia (AND). If confirmed, this would be the first Yankee attack on Venezuelan soil, representing, according to AND, “a new stage of Yankee aggression against the Latin American subcontinent. The statement was made alongside another genocidal leader, the Prime Minister of “Israel,” Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he is meeting in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.”

According to the CNN monopoly, the attack was carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) using drones in an unidentified area. The attack allegedly took place at the end of last week. The Yankees claim to have attacked a “large facility” and destroyed it.

AND explains that “despite joining the dozens of attacks carried out against Venezuela and the American continent in recent months, it marks a new advance in imperialist intervention in Latin America,” as it is the first time that a bombing has been carried out “not only against Venezuela, but also against the Southern Cone as a whole, as well as being the first Yankee bombing in Latin America since the last century, now during a new stage of imperialism’s agonizing decomposition.”

The operation is taking place without a formal declaration of war and in violation of all international law and agreements of the so-called “multilateral organizations.” AND explains that “this type of offensive is part of a broader strategy of militarization of the Latin American subcontinent,” and Yankee imperialism seeks to “consolidate its military presence in the Caribbean and the Southern Cone with the aim of combating the danger of revolutions and organizations of armed struggle, while at the same time attempting to deter imperialist rivals such as Russia and, manly, China, and to reaffirm its global control over strategic routes and natural resources.”

AND points out that the implementation of this naval blockade, rhetoric of “security,” and counterinsurgency policy, with military expansion in countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Bolivia, could set precedents for application in other countries, including Brazil itself.

The aggression of Yankee imperialism has led to protests and mobilization in many parts of the world, including demonstrations against Yankee intervention in the very heart of imperialism, in Miami, where on December 23 there were protests demanding an end to threats and sanctions against Venezuela. In Colombia, the National Liberation Army (ELN) issued a statement condemning the “New Strategy” of Yankee imperialism. Progressive organizations and activists have also mobilized in Europe, for example in Italy, in defense of Venezuela.

Media outlets such as the Association of New Democracy – Germany, “Nuevo Perú” have clearly characterized the Yankee intervention as follows: “In the case at hand, it is direct intervention with the deployment of the entire political, economic, and military potential of the United States, the sole hegemonic imperialist superpower, against a weak Third World country. In collusion and conflict with Russia and other imperialist countries. It is a war of imperialist aggression, in its first phase, against an oppressed country. We are not in the preliminary stage of preparations and the creation of internal and external public opinion; this has been carried out over several periods of US governments, over several decades.”
