AND Editorial – Yankees out of Venezuela and Latin America!
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the editorial of A Nova Democracia (AND) on the US attack on Venezuela.
On January 3, a small number of special forces from the Yankee military, under the orders of imperialist cannibal Donald Trump, carried out a water and air raid on Caracas, combined with massive bombings of military and civilian installations in four different states, and kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Blindfolded and on a Yankee ship, President Maduro was sent to Yankee territory, where he will reportedly be put on trial (a sham, of course) in which the Yankees intend to demoralize him and convict him of “narco-terrorism.” Hours after the unacceptable aggression, Trump, with a triumphant look on his face, also said that he will “run Venezuela until a transition” and that he will take the oil reserves; words and actions of a cannibal that reveal, once again, how the Yankees take Latin America, the territory of their subservient subjects, their lackeys.
This military operation, unprecedented in the contemporary history of South America, is a complete violation of all “international laws” and disregards “multilateral mechanisms.” It demonstrates the degradation of so-called “world peace” and reveals that the world is actually governed by the despotic actions of a few imperialist corporations and their political representatives at the head of reactionary states, in an insane struggle to impose their interests, trampling on nations, countries, and peoples, without recognizing any borders or laws. More than that: it is an ignominious, even hateful act, intended to insult the Venezuelan nation and people, the oppressed nations and peoples of Latin America (mainly) and all oppressed peoples of the world. Through this markedly warmongering act, the Great Satan, the US, enemy number one of the peoples of the world, intends to send an intimidating message to those who challenge its dictates and to its imperialist rivals: we are willing to do anything. This is a typical show of force by those who perceive themselves as challenged and insecure, and even an act of desperation by an empire in crisis and rapid decline. Therefore, it does not demonstrate strength, but rather fragility: by continuing the warmongering race between superpowers and imperialist powers, trampling, attacking, and outraging the oppressed nations of the world, the Great Satan only accelerates its march into the dark, unfathomable, and eternal abyss toward which it is rushing headlong.
It is highly erroneous to assume that the motivation for this act of unjust war and imperialist aggression was oil, solely or mainly: Maduro, on several occasions when negotiated capitulation was considered, including in the week prior to the illegal attack, suggested handing over to the US the oil reserves and other things that were possible to prevent aggression, so that the Yankees would have them sooner or later. The Yankees did not want oil alone: they wanted oil and the pyrotechnic show of spectacular military action to delight their fascist domestic social base—after all, the midterm elections are approaching – and to respond to their imperialist rivals and intimidate other peoples who resist Yankee imperialism or challenge its abuses, particularly in Latin America, where it has decided to strengthen all ties of domination and reduce as much as possible the penetration of its imperialist rivals Russia and China.
It was an act of war, but calculated, according to the doctrines of low-intensity warfare: impact actions that achieve specific objectives, combining limited, partial, and targeted military actions with economic, political, and diplomatic harassment and aggression, as well as comprehensive military maneuvers for pressure, deterrence (threats and intimidation), blackmail, and attrition. The military objective of the aggression was to neutralize President Maduro in order to bring about a change of government; with a new government emerging from such a traumatic internal situation, the Yankees intend to inaugurate it in an atmosphere of uncertainty and fragility, and thus better subjugate the successors of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The political objective, subsequently, is to consolidate Yankee interests in Venezuelan oil, but also to impose limits, in capitulation agreements with the new government, on the Chinese and Russian presence in the country. An invasion and occupation, without which it would be impossible to carry out the threat of administering Venezuela, is very unlikely to be in the Pentagon’s plans: the Yankee beast knows that it could not unleash a medium-intensity war against Venezuela without inevitably spreading the armed struggle of national resistance throughout the subcontinent, from which it would emerge resoundingly defeated, with the potential to ruin its plans not only tactically, but also strategically.
We denounce once again the criminal imperialist aggression against Venezuela: it is part of their plans for greater intervention in the subcontinent, a greater presence of their troops, military bases, and means of warfare, with which the Great Satan seeks to prepare itself to combat the growing dangers of revolutionary popular uprisings spreading throughout its “backyard” and, simultaneously, to deter its imperialist rivals. The Yankee demons are already present, in addition to Venezuela, in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Paraguay, now advancing to establish new bases in Argentina; in all these countries, except Venezuela, these are moves in cooperation with the lackey governments of their bootlickers. After the aggression in Venezuela, the cannibal Trump and his dog Marco Rubio threatened Cuba – saying that an action like this, against Venezuela, could occur against the island – and Colombia, even accusing the opportunist Gustavo Petro of producing and trafficking cocaine to the US. Nevertheless, in Paraguay, for example, the official justification is the “fight against drug trafficking” and, nominally, it cites the First Capital Command (PCC), a Brazilian organization, from which it can be inferred, not only by logic, that Brazil is a fundamental objective of their successive approaches. The Great Satan wants to establish more bases abroad (there are more than 700), and especially in Brazil, to tighten the reins of imperialist domination and plunder, ward off the advance of its contenders China and Russia in our country, combat the dangers of violent popular rebellions, and prevent the Agrarian Revolution from raising powerful flames in the years to come.
Still on the subject of Venezuela, it is strange that the operation, which lasted only 90 minutes, involved helicopters entering the capital Caracas and kidnapping the country’s president and his wife at his residence, without any detectable strong response so far from anti-aircraft batteries or prolonged fighting between the Presidential Guard and the Yankee devils or whatever. Whatever the reason for this failure in national defense, which cost the country’s president his freedom, it cannot fail to raise suspicion. It is known that the Yankees tried to bribe the pilot of Maduro’s presidential plane to divert the route and take him to Yankee territory. The active collaboration of elements of the Venezuelan regime was a fundamental part of the Yankees’ plan of operation; and it is known, because it was confirmed by the CIA, that one of their collaborators, from within the government, offered information about Nicolas Maduro’s whereabouts days before the odious aggression. Although versions coming from the CIA may be mere information warfare.
In any case, the Venezuelan nation was attacked, its head of state and government, commander-in-chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, was kidnapped and abused. That is the undeniable fact. The new government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in this particular situation, will have to take a stand in the face of the facts: sell the sovereignty, dignity, and self-determination of the Venezuelan people to the Great Satan in exchange for vain promises that he will not take them by force as he always does, sooner or later; or prepare to fight imperialism, strengthening all defense and counter-information measures, camouflaging the location of the authorities, severely punishing the counterrevolutionary and pro-Yankee traitors to the nation, boldly mobilizing the masses in arms, moving all popular and mass organizations into armed struggle, and preparing for a prolonged guerrilla war to achieve national liberation. Two possible positions, two irreconcilable paths.
Anti-imperialists, true democrats, revolutionaries, and the revolutionary proletariat in particular, must raise the popular protest, the anti-imperialist cry of the Venezuelan and Latin American people; combat capitulation and unfurl the anti-imperialist struggle for liberation.
Long live the national resistance of the Venezuelan people!
Imperialism is a paper tiger!
Death to the Great Satan, Yankee imperialism!
Yankees Go Home!
