We hereby share an unofficial translation of the 1st of May statement from the Committee for the Reconstitution of the Communist Party of Mexico (CR-PCM) published by the Mural Newspaper on the 1st of May.
MAY DAY MANIFESTO
DOWN WITH IMPERIALIST WAR!
Proletarians of all countries, unite!
To the proletariat and the workers
To the independent, democratic, and revolutionary trade unions
This May 1st, alongside hundreds of millions of proletarians around the world, waving high the red flags of the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNIST LEAGUE (ICL), we take to the streets to denounce that the general crisis of imperialism is deepening, marking a trend toward its further reactionary transformation. This places the threat of imperialist world war at the forefront of the international stage, turning the peoples into spoils of war. The series of conflicts unleashed around the world are generally of two types: wars of aggression and wars of occupation, which makes it clear that, at the current stage of capital’s development, the principal contradiction on a global scale is between imperialism and the oppressed peoples.
The drums of imperialist war are beating across the globe, and this can be quantified by the military spending of the superpowers and imperialist powers in the race to redivide the world. This must be understood as a war economy, and it signifies the militarization of the economy, as evidenced by the 2.5% of global Gross Domestic Product allocated to military spending. The report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) shows how this spending has been on the rise over the past eleven years, projecting a notable increase since the start of Russian imperialism’s war of occupation against Ukraine, the Zionist entity’s genocidal war against Gaza, and the reactionary civil war in Sudan, warning that these conflicts remain active and are not the only ones of their kind. It is important to note that 2025 saw a 2.9% increase compared to the previous year, reaching a total of nearly $2.9 trillion, of which the two superpowers—the U.S. and Russia—along with social-imperialist China, invested $1.49 trillion in military spending, accounting for 51% of the global total. Other imperialist powers such as Germany and France also increased their war budgets as they vied for hegemony within the European Union, while Britain did the same within NATO. At the same time, Japan increased its military budget in Asia, as did “Israel” as a bridgehead for Yankee imperialism in the Middle East. Consequently, the military escalation by U.S. imperialism against Venezuela and Iran in early 2026 is part of this scenario, with control of oil as the underlying motive, but with differing outcomes.
On the one hand, following the bombing of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro along with his partner, attorney Cilia Flores, Yankee imperialism imposed a new order on the country, striking a deal with the capitulationist faction of Chavismo that submitted to the United States. After that, Donald Trump intensified his threats against Our America, securing the immediate submission of certain lackeys. Shameful is Petro’s cowardly attitude in Colombia, bowing his head to the gringos and bombing the guerrillas. Shameful is Sheinbaum’s servile attitude in Mexico, obeying the White House’s orders by suspending energy aid to Cuba and accepting the increasingly brazen entry of the U.S. military into national territory. On the other hand, following the Yankee and Zionist bombing of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which claimed 170 lives as its first victims—mostly girls from an elementary school—the Iranian nation rose up in unity to defend its national sovereignty. This spread the conflict throughout the region, striking a blow to the interests of Yankee imperialism and Zionism, and drawing in other forces of the National Resistance in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, who acted in concert with Iran to raise the immortal banner of the heroic Palestinian National Resistance. The result has been a resounding moral, political, and military victory over the aggressors.
Nevertheless, preparations for the new imperialist world war continue apace, and as we have already seen, imperialism’s war economy is merely one symptom. Another is the rise in fuel prices, a result of tensions in the Persian Gulf, which is leading to an imminent increase in the cost of basic necessities and public transportation. The next step will be wage cuts and mass layoffs of workers in the service sector and various branches of industry. This is a consequence of the crisis and the logic of capital, which always destroys the two main sources of its wealth: nature and the labor power of the proletariat.
Today, the threat of imperialist war and fascism looms over the workers and peoples of the world. In both imperialist States and puppet States, the parasitic ruling classes are implementing anti-popular policies aimed at further reactionary policies, shifting the burden of the crisis onto the shoulders of the masses and imposing corporatization and militarization. In the face of this, the exploited and oppressed in the most diverse countries and continents hold high the hope of another possible world. Across the globe, millions of human beings raise the banners of life, freedom, anti-imperialism, and anti-fascism. The class instinct of the proletariat and the peoples’ desire for freedom are increasingly converging; this signifies the unity of the International Communist Movement and the National Liberation Movement as two currents of the new great wave of the World Proletarian Revolution that is approaching.
In Mexico, where the war against the people has already left more than 132,500 people missing and more than 500,000 people murdered; where women and young people from the people are demanding their right to life; where the working class faces a sharp decline in real wages; where unemployment continues to rise; where indigenous peoples and communities are rising up in resistance against dispossession and plunder; where the national territory is being balkanized by criminal groups under the orders of Yankee imperialism to justify military intervention or occupation of our country—the proletariat and the peoples urgently need to cast aside all illusions and prepare to fight.
This May 1st, the call is to break with opportunism, parliamentary cretinism, and contemporary revisionism—which act as fire extinguishers of the revolution by exploiting the just struggles of our class and our people. No one who truly advances the class struggle, no one who is truly part of the resistance, no one who truly demands the independence or autonomy of the peoples and social movements can stand with the regime, neither in its seats of power nor in its pigsties. It is time to work for the reconstitution of the heroic fighter of the working class, the Communist Party of Mexico!
We at the CR-PCM salute the ongoing People’s Wars in Peru, Turkey, India, and the Philippines, led by Communist Parties armed with the scientific ideology of the proletariat: Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. We salute and recognize the various national liberation struggles that are raising the banners of anti-imperialism high, joining the camp of the revolution. In particular, we salute the class-conscious workers’ organizations in our country that are on strike today, or that are preparing new days of struggle to defend the labor and union rights of our class. We reinforce the just outcry of the Searching Mothers and Families of the Disappeared, of the democratic teachers’ union CNTE, of the brilliant and combative youth of the FECSM, and of those organizations preparing the BOYCOTT AGAINST THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP… LET THEIR BALL CEASE ROLLING!
Reconstitute the Communist Party of Mexico!
Long live the proletariat and the peoples of the world!
Against imperialist war, the People’s War!
