The Old Brazilian State Unleashes Terror in Vila Kennedy, Rio de Janeiro

The Rio de Janeiro Military Police (PMERJ) attacked once more the Brazilian people in Vila Kennedy on August 3rd, A Nova Democracia (AND) reports. The PMERJ arrived with “its armored vehicles in yet another anti-terrorist operation that plunged the neighborhood into fear and paralysis.” Among its most serious criminal acts was the burning of a house in which the resident nearly died.
The condemnation, published by the Vila Kennedy People’s Bulletin, is circulating among residents, and hatred against the arbitrary repression unleashed by the old Brazilian State is growing, which is once again plunging the masses of Rio de Janeiro into terror, as has already occurred in this neighborhood during previous operations in April and May, when schools and other municipal facilities were shut down.
Residents interviewed by the Vila Kennedy People’s Bulletin are demanding a thorough investigation into the police officers who set the house on fire and an end to operations that put their lives at risk. The neighbors assert their rights to study, work, receive medical care, and live in their homes without fear.
