Israel launches new air attacks on Syria
On the 30th and 31st of March, series of air strikes were carried out by the Israeli military, targeting the vicinity of the capital city of Syria, Damascus. The strikes were launched from the occupied Golan Heights, which according to the international law belong to Syria. Earlier this month, Israel bombed Aleppo, which is particularly important for the humanitarian aid being transported to earthquake victims in Syria, as well as North-Western Syria, which is an area severely devastated by the earthquake.
Israel routinely uses the Golan Heights to launch attacks on Syria. Israel claims the attacks are against Iran or “Iran backed groups”, but for example in the deadliest attack to Damascus this year, 15 people were killed, many of them civilians, as Israel targeted residential areas. Also the attacks on critical infrastructure and earthquake areas have devastating effects for the suffering people.
