Communique: Red Sun condemn the aggression against the Zapatist support bases
We publish an unofficial translation of a text published in the webpage Solrojista:
Current of the People – Red Sun energetically condemns the new aggressions registered the last 22th May against the community Moises Gandhi, area base of the Zapatist Army of National Liberation [Translator’s note: Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional – EZLN], located in Ocosingo, Chiapas.
The attack was executed by the Orcao (paramilitary organization serving the counterinsurgency of the old State) and its part of an increase of aggressions against the Zapatist territory and against the peoples and communities who we are opposing to the imposition of imperialist mega-projects of plunder and death like the wrongly called “Tren Maya” and the Interoceanic Corridor from Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT).
We, the SolRojistas, defend that these mega-projects plunder and murder poor peasants and indigenous peoples from Mexico, and this new aggression against the Zapatist support bases has seriously injured the Tzotzil [Translator’s note: indigenous people present in Chiapas] activist Gilberto López Sántiz.
We hold responsible the Chiapas government lead by Rutilio Escandón Cadenas for the implementation of anti-popular policies of counter-insurgency kind, and his clear links to paramilitary groups which are operating in the area.
We hold responsible the federal government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the imposition of imperialist mega-projects and the militarization of the country, affecting the territories and life of the agrarian and indigenous communities.
The old State is preparing for the reactionary war against the people; its our duty as democrats and revolutionaries to unmask these dark plans by building a truly unity process with principles, which emerge from below, with an independent, anti-electoral, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist character.
Solidarity with the Zapatist communities and the EZLN!
Whoever governs, the rights of the people are defended!
With the Red Sun, the people will win!
