India: New Actions in the People’s War

In the last two weeks since the last time we reported on the People War in India lead by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) [CPI (Maoist)], there have been reports of new actions in many different federal states.
On the 17th of December a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sub-inspector is reported to have been killed and a constable was seriously injured after being attacked by Maoists in the Sukma district of the federal state of Chhattisgarh. According to the report this was the third death among the forces of the old Indian State in this region this month.
It is also reported that the CPI (Maoist) Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee has expressed their full support to the ongoing protests of the Anganwadi workers in the federal state of Andhra Pradesh. The committee secretary Ganesh, said that “Anganwadi workers should continue their protest until the government addressed their demands”, and also that the party in government “forgot all the poll promises”.
On the 20th of December Maoists are reported to have set a machine and a vehicle on fire at a road construction site on the border between the federal states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The report also states that the Maoists put up a pamphlet calling for a nationwide strike on the 22th of December. This strike is conveyed after a comrade of CPI (Maoist) fell in combat in Bihar.
On the 21st of December two buses were reportedly put on fire by Maoists in the the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. They also fell trees and put them on the roads in order to block the transport routes in the area. Also here it was reported that there were pamphlets for the strike on the 22nd of December.
Also in the district of Bijapur a recent action has been reported: on Friday 29th of December an agent of the District Reserve Guard was injured by an improvised explosive device planted by Maoists. The injured soldier was patrolling in a joint team of several police, paramilitary and military units. Including this, nine members of the security forces of the old Indian State have been injured during December in the state’s Bastar division, an stronghold of Maoists.
It is also reported on recent activity of Maoists in the state of Kerala: the night of Thursday to Friday dazibaos were put in the rural area of Hundikaparambu, Wayanad. In these dazibaos it was explained that a comrade of the CPI (Maoist) was killed in November as a part of the Operation SAMADHAN.
