Today 22nd of January, a major action by the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army in the camp of the paramilitary forces of the CRPF was reported. In this action, in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh State, 35 Security Personnel were killed. Also it was reported that more than 40 people were severely injured. Before the raid, the PLGA took the periphery of the camp under its control, an action done together with the locals, who blocked the highroads with huge tree logs to stop the movement of the CRPF.

To stop this action of being known, the paramilitary forces themselves barricaded all the area to prevent the journalists to publish and know of the raid. Later, thousands of police were deployed in Bastar. This action means also a problem for the Chhattisgarh State government, that was recently elected in the latest elections that had a low participation and were marked by the boycott campaign by the CPI (Maoist). Today, BJP dreams that in three years they will eliminate Maoism, now shows its incapability of be able to stop the actions of the People’s War.

This action, was done as a consequence of the onset of the Kagar Operation by the old Indian State. As FACAM has reported in a previous statement, this operation means the militarization of Chhattisgarh State, supposedly to “countering Maoism”. But, as was denounced in the statement, all those popular movements that struggle against the land and natural resources exploitation are considered as fronts “linked to Maoism”, and so all the people’s protests are attacked.
