Turkey: police harassing commemoration of martyrs

Nergiz Gülmez was the first member of the Party of the Proletariat who died in the death fast, 23 years ago. Her grave is located at the Sarıgazi Party and Revolution Martyrs’ Cemetery, where several graves of martyrs are.

Yeni Demokrasi reports, that on the anniversary of her immortality, Nergiz Gülmez’s grave was blockaded by the police and police were stationed at the entrance and exit of the cemetery.

Anyway her grave was visited throughout the day. Those who left flowers at the graves of Gülmez and others were harassed by the police, but the relatives of the martyrs visited despite the harassment.
