The new president of Macedonia uses “the wrong name”

The newly sworn-in president of Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, used the name Macedonia in her inauguration speech instead of the imperialist-dictated name of “North Macedonia”. This was immediately condemned by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who reminded that using the name “North Macedonia” is “paramount” for Macedonia to become a member of the EU. This is due to that also the State of Greece claims the name Macedonia as its own and it has expressed fears of Macedonia making claims over its province with the same name. Therefore adhesion of “Macedonia” in the EU or the NATO, both of which Greece is a member, would inflame undesirable tensions in the region for the imperialists.

Therefore the US, as well as the EU, dominated by German imperialism, forced Macedonia to change its name to North Macedonia in 2018 through the Prespa agreement. With the signing of this agreement, the representatives of the respective lackey regimes expressed that all the old grudges are now put aside and they are in harmony with each other. This opened the path of NATO- and EU adhesion for Macedonia, which would make it possible for US imperialism as well as the European imperialists to grip it more tightly amid fears of increasing influence of Russian imperialism over the country. For the imperialists to even dictate what name the oppressed nation is allowed to use is a great mockery of the supposed “independence” of these countries and a direct violation of their sovereignty.
