Brazil: MEPR denounces attack by liquidators
We publish an unofficial translation of the statements published by A Nova Democracia.
With different actions, MEPR denounces the usurpation of the webpage and unmasks the attacks against the organization
According to the Revolutionary People’s Student Movement (MEPR), the site of the organization was usurped on 26th of August by a former militant who was in charge of updating it and he made a publication of a new group called “New Revolutionary People’s Student Movement”. The National Commission of MEPR, together with the Regional Coordination of Rio de Janeiro, a statement on what happened, where the usurpation of the site and the positions of the former militants were denounced. The document can be read at the end of this publication.
There is also a video in internet, recorded on 27th of August (a day later of the publication of the letter in the site) of an intervention of an activist in the three-segments plenary (professors, technicians-administrative and students) of the occupation of the University of Rio de Janeiro State. There, a militant of MEPR, surrounded by a huge block of activists, makes an intervention on what happened.
Alert’s note
On 26th of August our page was assaulted by a group of provocateurs trying to demoralize MEPR. One of the leaders of this group attacked the occupation strike in the UERJ, a position that was crushed by students who approved the occupation, which victoriously continues.
Taking advantage of the access to the administrator password of the website, which was in the hands of one of those former militants of MEPR, liquidators who were scared by the firm position of our movement for the revolution, not only in words but in practice, who pretended through tricks to present themselves as NovoMEPR. This group is formed by people who arrived late to MEPR, when all our thesis were already established and consolidated with the evidence of its correctness in the practice of class struggle, against the reactionary odds of the governments, including the false “left”, which applies the politics of the ruling classes and imperialism.
When this people struggled, the opposite way as they boar in their manifesto, they struggle under the direction of MEPR, where they learned, and now deny, the principal established by the great Lenin “it is nothing more than empty phraseology pretending to combat imperialism and reaction without combating all opportunism”.
They conciliate with all kind of opportunism, even they tried to unite in the next DCE elections of the Federal Fluminens Universty with PSTU, a party of which a group invaded a room of the UERJ trying to hit with fists and kicks, a small group of MEPR students, in 2016.
They start to flirt with reactionary ideologies, with post-modernism trying to look for a new field in the social movement.
In their manifesto they attack the National Coordination of the Movement, its program and line and they do not mention even a word of combating this government of class collaboration headed by PT in coalition with the liberal right.
They think that with ultra-revolutionary phraseology, quotes of the classics of Marxism and with lies and dishonesty, very typical to opportunists, they will confuse and poison the combative youth. They trick themselves thinking that with this means, they will be able to hide their shameful capitulation.
In an arrogant way and shamelessly lying, they claim several victories as their own exclusive achievements, gained the Student’s Movement of Rio de Janeiro, hiding the struggle plans and calls made by forums of student masses and proposed by the National Coordination of MEPR, which leads the occupation strikes all over the country.
They had the idea that the student’s movement in Rio de Janeiro was the most important, a position MEPR never took, especially because it is based in the struggle of student’s organizations all over the country where all the struggles have the same importance and meaning.
To prove the statements of these “heroes”, who do not have the minimum honesty to recognize their cowardliness in front of the hardships of the class struggle, and on the contrary, they try to hide it with convenient quotes, it is enough to look in the pages of rightist organizations of the International Communist Movement.
Today we took back the administration of the webpage for those who rightfully own it. Hereby we share the official note of the National Coordination and the Regional Coordination – RJ of the Revolutionary People’s Student’s Movement.
Revolutioanry People’s Student Movement – MEPR
The risk for the stick, the axe has it as well!
Version of the revolutionary peasant struggle song
On 26th of August, the publication of a group called New Revolutionary and People’s Student Movement surprised all the followers and readers of the MEPR webpage. Due to its content it was proved that it was not an attack of the intelligence services of Israel, due to the defense campaign of the Palestinian National Resistance, but an action by a renegade of the movement, who in that time was responsible to update this site and stole the password. It was the same person that was harshly criticized days before by the direction of the Movement for her attempt to demoralized it by making a shameful defense against the occupation in the name of it, in an UERJ student’s meeting at beginning of August, when all students know that MEPR, together with other movements and combative student’s organizations is the vanguard in the universities’ occupations all over the country.
The publication of such a group was a rightist demonstration, which wrapped in quotes of Chairman Mao and ultra-revolutionary phraseology, with arguments at their convenience, as well as boasts of supposed revolutionary virtues of them. It is entitled Why we break up with the National MEPR Coordination? This document states that they broke up with MEPR “to defend the glorious revolutionary traditions” of MEPR itself. They state that they break up “with the National Coordination to keep our flags upright”. Which MEPR traditions and historical flags has been abandoned by the National Coordination they do not say a word. On the contrary, by attacking MEPR leadership they repeat as parrots the same litanies that opportunists and revisionists throw against Maoists, that they just are tailists, dogmatics and sectarian. In short time it would not be surprising if they label our combatants as “guerrillas and terrorists”, as electoral opportunist, false left snitches, bolsonarist and other bandits of the extreme right do for several decades.
In the name of the National Coordination of MEPR and its Regional Coordination of Rio de Janeiro, we completely reject these attacks. One more time we support the three revolutionary principles that have served to the foundation of the revolutionary democratic current of the Brazilian students: 1) Defense of the scientific ideology of the proletariat, Marxism-Leninism-Maoism; 2) Defense of the uninterrupted New Democratic Revolution to socialism, and its two phases: agrarian revolution and national liberation revolution; 3) Defense of the principle to combat imperialism inseparable to combat opportunism.
The New, new on paper, the Newest states that the National Coordination of MEPR “suffocates the ‘two-line struggle’”. But no one ran away more shamefully from discussions, debates and polemics within the movement but them. The last meeting of MEPR National Coordination took place during the victorious 42nd ENEPe. In this meeting, one of the persons who founded the Newest, the same provocateur who was previously denounced, did not present any divergence with the Movement’s line nor the balance of this event. Lately, when she came back to Rio, she presented to her colleagues from the Movement in RJ an opposed balance which she herself had approved. This divergent balance was never sent or showed to the majority of the National Coordination. She presented to the bases only her rightist balance, without giving the minimum right to the National Coordination to bring the approved evaluation at the end of the event to the MEPR bases. It is exactly these leaders of the Newest who suffocates, prevent the debate when there are divergences and they run away from two-line struggle.
They say they defend the historical flags and heritage of 2013 MEPR? Could it be!? The uprisings of the combative youth, powerful, spontaneous and massive movement which shook Brazil, followed by land seizures all over the country and militant workers uprising in the PAC works, represented the major blow to electoral opportunism. 2013 particularly represented a strong blow to PT-ist opportunist who tried to keep fooling the masses with false compensatory politics, which were a recept of the international agencies of imperialism, such as the World Bank, and truly counter-revolutionary campaigns, specially to repress the heroic peasant, indigenous and Quilombola struggle. The leader of the neweststates that she defends the heritage of 2013, but in its manifesto they barely attack extreme right and they do not say a world, barely a critic, against the opportunist PT government and particularly to its coward policies of pacification and adulation to the reactionary troops, boot-licker of USA, which will never serve to destroy them, but to strength them. The historical MEPR flags are completely irreconcilable with the document of the newest; that is why it broke with the National Coordination, because their leaders initiated the decadent way back to the marsh of the old Brazilian student’s movement. There are things that keeps the same: “We are marching in a compact group along a precipitous and difficult path, firmly holding each other by the hand. We are surrounded on all sides by enemies, and we have to advance almost constantly under their fire. We have combined, by a freely adopted decision, for the purpose of fighting the enemy, and not of retreating into the neighbouring marsh, the inhabitants of which, from the very outset, have reproached us with having separated ourselves into an exclusive group and with having chosen the path of struggle instead of the path of conciliation.” (Lenin, What is to be done?). Like this was MEPR founded… we will persist!
From the political point of view, they speak about the New Democratic Revolution, but there is no reference to the agrarian revolution, which is the current stage and the main contradiction of Brazilian society. They have the nerve to say that the National Coordination gave “orders to hide” in front of the coupist extreme right offensive. Where today in Brazil is the most radical, bloody confrontation with the extreme right, fascists and reaction? This confrontation is in the countryside, where the bolsonarist latifundium, with its reactionary tactics of the so-called “zero invasion” put the Brazilian countryside in a stage of civil war in which on one hand there are armed big landlords, supported by the repressive hordes of the old State, and on the other peasants that are resorting more and more to the armed violence to defend their rights. That is why, only from their mouth and their poisonous tongue, until then members of the Movement, who always tried quirky apologies to not to go to the countryside to struggle with the masses and serve them wholeheartedly, such lies and infamies can be born. Where is MEPR, if its not at the side, hand by hand, with this peasants, Quilombolas and indigenous. Where are the best MEPR comrades, from the 2013 generation, if not supporting and leading the most important struggles in the countryside of our country. To talk about combating extreme right with identitarian speech within the walls of the university and saying that those who are in the more challenging and important trenches of the class struggle in our country are hiding from fascism is something dishonest and shameful.
From the ideological point of view, as well as other rightist, they try to ride upon the glorious People’s War in India. They state to support the already for several years ongoing People’s War, with consolidated development, because this is a way of, on one hand, hide the complete lack of determination to do the revolution in their own country, and on the other, to traffic with the prestige of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), as the right inside ICM does, to hide their own rightist positions and to buff the reactionary chorus they join with world reaction. So, they can only start with lies, after all, there is no critique from the CPI (Maoist) to such Brazilian communist movement. Also, in their manifesto, the Newest barely explains its differences with the political line of the CPI (Maoist), which clearly and confidently defends the path of New Democratic Revolution through prolonged People’s War with the encirclement of the cities from the countryside for the revolutionaries of all semi-colonial countries. Clearly, this newest group opposes to this positions of the CPI (Maoist); they state to defend the New Democratic Revolution without agrarian revolution to lately defend that the character of the Brazilian revolution is already in its socialist stage and its centers are the big cities. With some patience we will be able to see their leaders, while socialist revolution does not take place, to struggle decisively and boldly for their succulent place in the bureaucracies of the old State, PT, PCdoB, among other “leftists” they claim to be. Ladies and gentlemen, are these positions of the heritage and revolutionary traditions of the MEPR?
In the typical arrogant and cosmopolitan attitude, which believes that people from the inland and outside the southeast cannot understand the complex thought imported from Europe, the Newest states that the leaders of MEPR, poor people, do not understand and do not know how to explain what postmodernism is, but they barely criticize their conceptions. How absurd! They even say that we instructed the activists not to defend Marxism at the university. It would be ridiculous, if it was not cynical, because when they accuse us of being anti-Marxists and dogmatists (who curiously don’t defend their “dogmas”), in the Newest there are those who dedicate themselves to writing master’s projects on “decolonial feminism”. That is, post-modernism ladies and gentlemen. Isn’t it you, who with all your boasting of cabinet wisdom, have not assimilated any line of the revolutionary content of Marxism?
Let us refresh the memory of the so-called wise with a key thing in the revelation of educated revisionists: Chairman Mao, during the Conference of Communist and Workers’ Parties, in Moscow, 1960, as soon as the traitor Khrushchev finished pontificating that the main danger for the communist movement was dogmatism, covertly accusing the Chinese communists of being dogmatic, stated clearly that communists must combat all types of deviations, “left” and right-wing opportunism, and also dogmatism and empiricism, forms of manifestation of subjectivism, However, he concluded that the main danger to the proletarian revolution remained revisionism. That is, those who pretend to be heroes of the relentless struggle against dogmatism as the main and most dangerous deviation for communists, are cunning revisionist ambushers. In fact, we do not defend the dilettantism of academic Marxism, Marxism without revolutionary violence, Marxism without a Marxist soul, of the taste of so many “enemies” of dogmatism, on the contrary, we fight them. Yes, lying ladies and gentlemen, we defend Marxism of class struggle, the Communist Party and the Communist International, revolutionary violence, the dictatorship of the proletariat and scientific socialism, the Proletarian Cultural Revolution and Communism, Marxism of the People’s War in Peru, of the PCP and Gonzalo thought, of support for the People’s Wars in India, Turkey and the Philippines and of the wars of national liberation.
In their speeches they say that we at MEPR in relation to Marxism are schematic, bureaucratic and express blind faith in our ideology. What is this if not the old anti-Stalin Trotskyiste chant? We alert our colleagues who were part of the MEPR foundations and today follow this brand new trend, that their criticisms of the MEPR are exactly identical to these:
“(…) after Stalin’s rise to power [the theorization of the class struggle developed] through the codification of Marxism produced by the CPSU in the period, followed by a simplification of the theory (…). (…) this codification of Marxist thought, built mainly from reordered quotations of elements from the works of Marx and Lenin: the definition of the need to recruit cadres based on the criteria of trust and faith placed in the Party and Socialism (… ). Furthermore, the recruitment of cadres for the Party based on the criterion of trust, faith as a defining element of adherence to the communist cause, the tying and blocking of unions and mass entities by calling them mere ‘transmission belts’ of the Party took away their ability to take initiatives. [Leading] the accommodation of militancy and to the bureaucratization of the Party ”.
Read carefully, whoever guesses from who it is, wins the first prize, 1, 2 and… 3: from PCBrasileiro, from Socialism: balance and perspectives. You were wrong, if you thought it was from their unpublished program.
The criticism of the leaders of the Newest against the National Coordination of MEPR repeats the same words, terms and tone, as the criticism of the hardened and recalcitrant revisionist leadership of the PCBrasileiro does against Comrade Stalin year after year… the one with brutal methods against those who disagreed with him, the one who eliminated the old Bolshevik Guard, the one with the cult of personality and other already established themes of stinking anti-communism. It is into this marsh that they were taken and they want, with lies and deceit, to bring young people. We in MEPR are for Stalin and against fascism, against appeasement with the extreme right, against revisionism and Trotskyism. And against the academic Maoists, of course.
Already in chorus with opportunism in the student movement, the Newest accuses the MEPR of disregarding so-called identity agendas. It does the same thing that the pelegada does: trafficking with the interests of the masses of the so-called minorities to attack those who radically struggle for the revolution. MEPR is a democratic-revolutionary current that respects and works with the poorest masses of the people, the broadest and deepest layers of the proletariat and the peasantry, with the student masses, especially the poorest (it is there in “Leftwing” communism: An infantile disorder, of the great Lenin, a providential and obligatory work for communists to think on and revisit quite assiduously). Our criterion for mass work is the class criteria; We reject any type of prejudice against people, and we defend the rights of minorities based on class criteria. We struggle concretely, in our conduct, every day against the abject prejudices and discrimination typical of reaction. We have always been on the side of the black people and we completely reject the false and vile accusation of allegedly evasion from the “black issue” in Brazil. One of the founders of MEPR, our dear comrade Luiz Carlos, Professor Manoel, as the female and male peasant, and their children, affectionately called him, a great revolutionary activist, great-grandson of enslaved people, since the founding of our current, he has guided the black issue in our formulations. But with his classist, revolutionary and consistent spirit, he always showed, following the teachings of Mariátegui, that the emancipation of black people was inseparable from their political and social emancipation. And for this reason, the great example that Professor Manoel left us was that of deeply bonding with the black masses of the countryside, living their life with them, eating their food, suffering their secular and present pain, dancing their creole and batuque samba and advance there to conquer the land of black peasants and remnants of Quilombo. MEPR, with its former and current generation, is present in the struggle of black people in the countryside and on the outskirts of big cities. Not with demagogic speeches that racism and all types of prejudice against the people’s masses of our country will be exterminated. Only with a true Revolution of New Democracy we will sweep all this filth into the dump of history. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, invent other lies and infamies against the movement, which is modest, but unshakable in its revolutionary and internationalist principles, program and line of Brazilian student youth.
As for the other attacks and infamy and other nonsense that “their dear leaders ” are gossiping about, we don’t have time to waste on this, but, above all, we will no longer make any concessions to your cheap, police-style provocations of snitching. Pay attention ladies and gentlemen, these are no longer children or teenagers.
To the leaders of the Newest, fellow travelers, as Lenin liked to make fun of the whiners, all we can do is recognize, once again, the proof of the iron law for those who propose wholeheartedly to make the revolution: Don’t ask how much we are, but if we want it! For the bases of the MEPR, who currently follow this old youth, we leave our call for you to listen to the balance of the National Coordination of the MEPR and its true Coordination of Rio de Janeiro: do not let yourselves be carried away by the atmosphere of cheering, friendshipism and personal considerations, of sowing intrigues and distilling poison, relationships and practices such that the class struggle turns them into pieces in no more than two blows, and, for this very reason, it only serves to hide discussion, distill poison, hide the real differences, foment sectarianism and instill false rebellion. Study, think about and discuss; If you want real samba, this is the place. The choice is simple: capoeira de angola or ballroom dancing.
Capoeira vai lutar,
Já cantou e já dançou,
Não pode mais esperar.
Não há mais o que falar,
Cada um dá o que tem
Capoeira vai lutar…
Vem de longe não tem pressa,
Mas tem hora pra chegar.
Já deixou de lado os sonhos
Dança e canta berimbau
Abram alas, batam palmas
Poeira vai levantar
Quem sabe da vida espera
Dia certo pra chegar.
Capoeira não tem pressa,
Mas agora vai lutar…
Capoeira will fight,
It has already sung and danced,
You can’t wait any longer.
There’s nothing more to say,
Everyone gives what they have
Capoeira will fight…
Come from far away, don’t be in a hurry,
But there is time to arrive.
Have you left your dreams aside?
Dance and sing berimbau
Open the wings, applaude
Dust will rise
Who knows what life awaits
Right day to arrive.
Capoeira is in no hurry,
But now it will fight…
