Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the Mexican part of the recent Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo Mexico.
The independent organization of the proletariat and the peoples of Mexico continues to rise despite the regime’s attempts to co-opt the forces of the movement into platforms of opportunistic unity where always the same people are present and where the same issues are always discussed: “electoral fronts and economic fronts” that collude with tyranny. Breaking with that filth, our democratic organization salutes the best efforts of the working class and the peoples who rise to bring clarity to the process of class struggle for national liberation. In this sense, we welcome the call to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Mexico, which has been shared by our comrades from Periódico Mural. In this, the communists state:
“On the upcoming 24th of November, it will be 105 years since the founding of the Communist Party of Mexico as the vanguard detachment of the organized working class. This is a call to commemorate by raising the red flags of the proletariat to the highest! […] The current stage in which our Party finds itself is that of its reconstitution, and this establishes its character as a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist Communist Party, mainly Maoist, with the universally valid contributions of Chairman Gonzalo. Maoism is the third, new, and higher stage of Marxism; this is a scientific definition that affirms our political line for the revolution that Mexico demands […] Mexican communists call upon the exploited and oppressed of our country to make this last two months of the year a period of celebrations.”
In the same vein, we want to salute the work of the 3rd Assembly of Indigenous Peoples of the Cholulteca Region in Defense of Water and Life, held on November 5, where the peoples elaborated six central points:
“ONE.- The five deep wells located in the territory of Santa María Acuexcomac must be closed in compliance with the agreement signed in 1994 between the community and the appropriate authorities.
TWO.- The 22 towns of the Cholulteca Region from the municipalities of San Pedro Cholula, San Andrés Cholula, San Andrés Calpan, Nealtican, Juan C. Bonilla, Tecuanipan, and Santa Isabel Cholula, along with attendees of the third assembly, will support the decision of ‘no more water’ from Santa María Acuexcomac.
THREE.- Assemblies will be held, and councils and committees will be formed in defense of the water in the Cholulteca Region to promote a Coordination of the Cholulteca Towns in defense of water.
FOUR.- A demonstration will take place on November 27 at the PROFEPA (Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection in Mexico; translator’s note) headquarters to demand a plan for the abandonment of the Cholula landfill and to put an end to the pollution of water, air, land, and wildlife that it causes.
FIVE.- A cleanup will be conducted in the course of the Batan River and in the area of the Ahuehuete and the Spring of Acuexcomac.
SIX.- The Fourth Assembly of Indigenous Peoples of the Cholulteca Region in defense of life and water will be held in the municipality of San Buenaventura Nealtican on December 9.”
Finally, as part of the organizing groups for the 2nd National Meeting of Collectives for New Democracy, to be held on November 23 and 24 in Oaxaca, we are convinced that these types of efforts, built independently and combatively from the proletariat and the peoples, will improve the balance of forces between revolution and counter-revolution as we follow the slogan Combat and Resist!
