Criminal management by the Spanish State and fire in Catarroja

We hereby share a resume of an article published by Servir al Pueblo (SAP) and some additional information on the situation in the south of Valencia, where the Spanish State disregard the masses and their horrible situation after the DANA.

SAP reports that “On Monday 16th of December a big fire erupted in Catarroja. No one died because the fire was extinguished after few hours, but there were toxic gasses. The fire, which started on 19:30 and was extinguished on 23:00, occurred in a camp which became a cemetery of destroyed cars by the DANA.”

Catarroja is one of the most affected places by the DANA: 25 people died. Catarroja is also one of the most affected areas regarding economy, since there were big damages in industrial areas, shops, vehicles and homes of the people.

The fire put the residents in serious danger because of the big number of toxic gasses due to the huge amount of fuel which remains inside the vehicles gathered in the area since the effects of the DANA. But this is not the first fire because of those reasons, it “is the second fire which happens in a deposit of vehicles affected by the DANA. The first happened this Sunday 15 in Alberic, where three homes and another urban area where evacuated in order to prevent an intoxication due to the inhalation of smoke.

SAP points out: “The residents of Catarroja have to not only withstand the criminal and murderous management of the DANA by the State, but also they had to close themselves in their homes in order to prevent the inhalation of toxic gasses from the fire. First, to avoid to be killed by the water of the floods. Then, to avoid that the smoke of the fire intoxicates them.” Thus, after more than one month since the DANA, thousands of cars remain untouched. This shows how the Spanish State ignored the suffering of the masses when the DANA occurred, and now disregards the masses again when the consequences of the DANA are still present in the affected towns. As SAP points out, the Spanish State does not centralize resources to solve the situation “because it simply doesn’t want it. The monopolies doesn’t want to stop winning a single cent. Everything that the State saves and does not use to help the affected ones, will go to the pockets of the monopolies through economical aids to the companies (which are directly linked to the monopolies), with tax benefits, “aids to the development and investment” applied by monopolies, etc.

Once more the Spanish State shows that is a political instrument of Spanish imperialism. That is, a political instrument of the monopolies (banks, construction, power, infrastructure, telecommunications…) against proletarians.”
