Exchange of Prisoners of War in Palestine
The Exchange of Prisoners of War (POW’s) has begun as part of the agreed upon ceasefire.
From the Palestinian prisoners of war held captive by Israel 69 women and 21 minors were released during the night from Sunday to Monday. Among them is famous Khalida Jarrar, high ranked within the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and feminist activist. Jarrar has served prison terms in Israel since 2015. Her first arrest dates back to March 1989. Another prominent released prisoner of war is journalist Rula Hassanein, an editor for the Ramallah-based Wattan Media Network.
Meanwhile the so-called Palestinian Authority has again shown its true face: there are reports of harassment by its repressive forces on the families of the Palestinian political prisoners ahead of their release. They want to prevent celebrations, family meetings and any kind of expression of joy and celebration by the people of Palestine in West Bank:
The Israeli repressive forces did the same in Jerusalem, threatening the families of political prisoners and banning gatherings and celebrations:
Al Jazeera published the complete list of those freed:
Not including those detained in Gaza during the past 15 months of war and before the release there were 10,400 Palestinians POW’s in Israeli prisons. United Nations agencies, investigators and “human rights” organizations have documented arbitrary arrests, as well as inhumane and degrading treatment, torture and deaths of Palestinians in Israeli custody. On the other hand, the Israeli POW’s recently released seemed to be in good health according to the circumstances. In an interview one Israeli POW admired her treatment and thanked those who were responsible for her well-being.
Following October 7,2024, countless horrifying allegations emerged against the National Resistance Front of Palestine of “mass rape”. These hoaxes have been lately reissued by several imperialist media outlets supporting Israel in order to portray the justified national resistance as “barbarians”. No evidence has been revealed that support the claims made.
