The Reactionary Indian State’s Fear of Hidma

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by Yeni Demokrasi on the 17th of May.

54 songs and propaganda videos about the martyred Communist leader Madvi Hidma have been removed from online media in India.

Hidma, the commander of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army who was martyred in November 2025, continues to be cherished by the masses of India, especially the Adivasis. Since November, the people have been expressing their longing and love for Hidma through songs and videos on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

The released songs were listened to millions of times and spread through various events such as weddings and youth gatherings. In response, the reactionary Indian State launched investigations to prevent the upholding of Hidma. The content was removed from various platforms, including YouTube, at the request of the Maharashtra police’s “Anti-Naxal Operations Unit.”

It has been learned that numerous lawsuits have been filed regarding Hidma, on charges of playing songs or sharing videos about him. An investigation has been launched against some students for singing songs about Hidma in a state dormitory in Pune. Additionally, lawsuits have been filed against those who played songs about Hidma at a wedding in Gadchiroli.

These efforts by fascist-reactionary States have always ended in failure. Although the Turkish State has resorted to such fascist practices for years, it has not been able to erase Communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya from the consciousness of the people for half a century, nor prevent him from being embraced. Therefore, it is clear that attempts to erase Hidma from the consciousness of the international proletariat will also end in failure.
