On the 20th of June, the State of Bolivia declared a state of emergency – using a recently enacted law allowing the State to deploy armed forces against its own population – in an attempt at breaking the ongoing protests that have been carried out throughout the country for the past 50 days. However, despite the deployment of the army against the many blockades all over the country, the people have been able to maintain them.

During one of the operations aiming to clear a blockade in Llavini, reports tell of stones and dynamite being used to defend the blockade. According to the reports, the defense successfully prevented the opening of the road to traffic, and at least 13 additional blockades are still maintained.

So despite deploying the full force of the State, the lackey government has not been able to crush the just revolt of the masses. As of right now, half of the blockades are still maintained, including Puente Ichoa, Sacta, Chimoré, Ivirgarzama, Villa Tunari, Paracti, Llavini, Japo Kasa, and Tukiña in Cochabamba; Cerro Grande in Guarayos, Santa Cruz; and the Lequepalca-Aranjuez section in Oruro.
