Six student activists were kidnapped by plain clothes police officers in Nairobi on the 7th of July while they protested on occasion of the Saba Saba anniversary.
One of the activists denounced that he was arrested, stating that he was “beaten and dimpled inside central police station.”
This anniversary is marked on the 7th of July every year, as the anniversary of mass protests against the dictatorship of President Daniel Arap Moi in Nairobi, Kenya. By that time most of the democratic rights were banned and the people defied the ban, which led to widespread struggles across the city.
The six activists got charged with allegedly obstructing the operation of motor vehicles on a public road during Tuesday, charges which they denied. The six were released on a cash bail after appearing before the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi.
