You can read the statement and call published on the Instagram account of Anti-imperialist Front Chile (FAI Chile), which we previously published:

We hereby share actions carried out on the 53rd anniversary of the coup d’État in Chile, as shared on the Instagram accounts of the Newspaper El Pueblo and FAI Chile.

Santiago

The Newspaper El Pueblo writes in its Instagram post:

In various cities, memorial sites and working-class neighborhoods, the masses commemorate family members, combatants and masses who fell and were tortured during the period of Pinochet’s fascist military junta – a coup orchestrated and supported by Yankee imperialism – between 1973 and 1989.

As a newspaper, we covered iconic places in Santiago such as what was once the largest detention center, the National Stadium, and also the day of memory and street struggle in the Herminda de la Victoria neighborhood in Cerro Navia.”

On September 12, an event was organized in Santiago, where organizations shared their memories of the struggles against the coup. During the event several speeches, cultural presentations, agitational materials and sales booths were organized. Also present were international delegations from the Mexican and Swedish sections of the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL),

Yeni Demokrasi reported on a demonstration in Santiago, where the repressive forces attacked the demonstrators with tear gas and water cannons , and 300 people were reportedly detained, including 31 children and 16 foreign nationals. Sol Rojo also reported on this in its Weekly Newsletter.

La Serena

FAI Chile participated in a march in La Serena marking 53 years since the military coup. During the demonstration, slogans such as “Kast – Trash”, “No Forgiving, No Forgetting”, and “If Misery Intensifies: It is right to rebel!” were heard.

Curicó

Internationally, activities marking the anniversary were carried out. In Kristiansand, Norway, Kampkomiteen participated in an event titled “No forgiving, no forgetting – 53 years since the military coup in Chile.” honoring the people who fell to the Pinochet regime.
