France – Jeunesse Communiste: The Answer to Repression is to Join the Jeunesse Communiste!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement shared by Jeunesse Communiste (Communist Youth) on October 29.

Proletarians of all countries, unite!

Since September 18, the media has been flooded with scenes of uprisings, extensively analyzed by “experts” in suits and ties who condemn the “violence” of young people. They accuse young people of shutting down dialogue, vandalizing, setting fires, attacking without reason, and being savages brainwashed by social media.

They accuse us of being a threat to public order; they automatically deem us guilty; and they want to condemn us to political and social death. But we, too, have accusations to make.

In the summer of 2026 alone, five young people between the ages of 15 and 17 died on the job. It is now impossible to determine the actual number of young people who died among the 1,331 people who lost their lives on the job in 2025 alone. France is the European country with the highest number of workplace deaths and also the highest number of police-involved killings.

We heard them talk about Nahel because we rose up in protest, but they do not mention the 430 young people under the age of 27 who were killed by the police between 1977 and 2022 in France, and we cannot count the thousands who were injured, beaten, assaulted, and humiliated. France is the European country where the most people die at the hands of the police, and we must constantly remind people of this.

Furthermore, the unemployment rate among 15- to 24-year-olds currently stands at 21 percent. What future does the bourgeoisie promise us besides crisis, war, and misery? Our present consists of hours spent commuting to overcrowded high schools where arbitrariness reigns. It’s scorching summers, the threat of war, unemployment, and our parents who can’t afford gas, groceries, and rent. It’s now clear that the future will be much worse if we do nothing.

We are not idiots – we are truly angry, and we have every right to be! We reject this future! We are the generation of the crisis, and we will be the generation of the Revolution!

The working-class youth also accuse and condemn! We accuse the state of preparing for war hand in hand with the monopolies that exploit our parents for a pittance. We accuse the bosses of having broken our parents and of plunging them deeper and deeper into poverty. We accuse the national education system of preparing us for the same future, of constantly punishing us, and of serving only to make us fall in line in the service of capitalism. We accuse the rich of getting richer every day at the expense of our misery. We accuse the media—all owned by the same class of parasites—of always lying about us. We accuse the police of serving this purpose and of pointing and using their weapons against children.

We accuse the system of being driven by the pursuit of profit and of sacrificing our lives for this vile goal. We do not want this system that sacrifices lives so that a handful of parasites can get rich. We do not want genocide; we do not want the destruction of the planet; we do not want imperialist war. We do not want this system, so we will going to change it!

As we write these lines, there are more than 11,500 people in police custody, and more than 1,000 people have been incarcerated since September 18. But that’s not the only form of repression; state repression was also—and above all—evident on October 6, when a 15-year-old boy had his hand blown off by a grenade. On the same day, the media sensationalized a video of a police officer being beaten, without explaining that five minutes earlier he had tried to drown a young person in the river. Repression also includes Eden, 14, maimed for life by a tear gas canister fired point-blank into his jaw; others lost an eye after being struck by rubber bullets (LBD). We won’t even mention the thousands of beatings, humiliations, insults, and deprivations of liberty. We cannot list them all, as the number of victims is so high in just a few weeks of protests.

Now we know what they’re going to do: a systematic attack on all democratic rights – the right of association, labor rights, the right to strike and to protest. The intent to make the families of so-called “rioters” pay, to evict people from public housing, to prevent them from protesting, and so on… All of this is an attempt to stifle the working-class youth, to subjugate them, and to prevent them from fighting back.

It is the criminalization and outlawing of the entire revolutionary movement—and soon, the criminalization of the very idea of communism, just as in the oppressed countries of Eastern Europe. The situation is grave; this reactionary turn is leading to an authoritarian state that will need only the slightest push to tip over into fascism. These attacks will not only target political organizations and activists; they will set a legal precedent for attacking collective, democratic, and basic rights in general.

We will not bow down; we will not meekly accept fascism; we will fight, fight, and fight again!

WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE THREATS OF DISSOLUTION HANGING OVER THE COMMUNIST YOUTH!

We are not an isolated case; this is a threat hanging over all political organizations. From the very start of the high school student mobilization, the media “leaked” intelligence reports from the Paris Prefecture, pointing the finger at “far-left” organizations as the driving force behind the movement. Since then, the government’s propaganda has remained unchanged: it claims that “ultra-left” splinter groups are inciting the violence. The bourgeoisie is trying to pit the masses against one another to crush the movement and its just demands. Behind their “law and order” policy, they are trying to ward off the class struggle – but we are not fooled!

WE STRONGLY CONDEMN THE PLAN TO BAN THE COMMUNIST YOUTH AND ALL OTHER ORGANIZATIONS!

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT OUR DISSOLUTION – COMMUNISM AND ITS YOUTH CANNOT BE DISSOLVED!

WE STAND IN FULL SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THOSE CHARGED; WE DEMAND THEIR RELEASE WITHOUT PROSECUTION!

WE DEMAND THE PROSECUTION OF THE POLICE OFFICERS WHO BEAT PEOPLE, AND THEIR SUPERIORS, INCLUDING THE MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR!

WE WILL FIRMLY OPPOSE THE AUTHORITARIAN SHIFT THAT PAVES THE WAY FOR FASCISM!

WE CALL FOR CONTINUING THE STRUGGLE WITH THE SAME SELFLESS DEDICATION – THE BOURGEOISIE IS TREMBLING, THEY ARE SURROUNDED, WE ARE THE MAJORITY!

WE CALL ON REVOLUTIONARY YOUTH TO JOIN THE JEUNESSE COMMUNISTE!

LONG LIVE THE SOCIALIST REVOLUTION!

LONG LIVE COMMUNISM!
