Spanish State – Servir al Pueblo: Sports and Anti-Fascism Event in Torrejón

We hereby share an unofficial translation of an article published by Servir al Pueblo on October 29.

Last Sunday, October 25, an anti-fascist sports event organized by Corredor en Lucha took place at the Cantalarrana Social Center in Torrejón de Ardoz, in collaboration with the La Fábrika Boxing School and the Asociación Social Combativa, both located in the Madrid district of Puente de Vallekas. The goal of the event was to offer working-class youth in the region the opportunity to engage in healthy leisure activities, free from the usual capitalist and reactionary dynamics, through a sport linked to working-class values a popular, nonprofit sport that stands “in solidarity with the peoples and individuals who resist and fight for a better world,” a form of antifascist inclusion and socialization through contact sports, particularly boxing.

The event began with a talk, where comrades from the La Fábrika Boxing School and the Combative Social Association explained their backgrounds, their approaches to the practice of boxing, and the difficulties they have faced in launching and consolidating their projects for popular, antifascist, and antiracist sports. Among these difficulties, it was impossible not to recall the attack on La Fábrika carried out a year ago by thugs from an eviction company, an attack that our comrades resisted and which sparked a solidarity demonstration that brought together thousands of anti-fascists and residents of Vallekas, as we reported at the time in Servir al Pueblo.

Following the interesting presentation, the much-anticipated hands-on boxing class took place in a park near the Cantalarrana, where all attendees had the opportunity to learn some of the basics of this contact sport.

After the practical class, tired and hungry, we returned to the Cantalarrana to dig into the paella our comrades had prepared for us, ending the day in the best possible way: with a concert by Kora and Antifa Nation, rappers from Vallekas who wanted to show their support once again for the work that Corredor en Lucha has been carrying out in the Henares region through their anti-fascist and combative rap in service of the people.
