Brazil: Error Corrected in the Statement by the National Commission of the LCP

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a note published by A Nova Democracia (AND) on 24th of April. It is a correction of the statement issued by the National Commission of the Leagues of Poor Peasants (LCP) on a recent military action that took place in Rondônia. As we reported, the LCP denied its involvement in this action:

At the request of the National Commission of the Leagues of the Poor Peasants (LCP), we are publishing an updated version of the statement issued by the organization on April 16, due to a correction in the first paragraph on page 3, which now reads:

“Shortly thereafter, Elias’s widow—who had barely recovered from the gunshot wounds she sustained alongside her husband at the hands of the military police—was forced to leave the area with her two children, along with other families who were also expelled for disobeying the gang’s orders and whose homes were burned down. And as everyone in the area knows, it was members of the same gang who, on April 11, murdered the young man Luan.”
