An important event for the international anti-imperialist movement took place on the 14th of June, as 20,000 people took to the streets of Geneva marching against the plunderous, criminal and murderous plots of the imperialist G7 Summit that would start the day after in Evian on the other side of Lake Geneva. Among them, different delegations of the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) participated.

Under way to the demonstration, important part of the contingent was subjected to strict and illegal police controls where the guardians of imperialism violated their own laws, confiscating banners and legal magazines, an attempt in vain of impeding the distribution of revolutionary propaganda at the demonstration, but still the AIL banners highlighted the just struggles of the peoples of the world, such as the revolution in India – and the fallen hero Comrade Basavaraj – as well as support for the resistance of the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon and Iran.

The demonstration, organized by the No G7 Coalition, followed a route through the city center of Geneva, starting off from the Parc Mon Repos by the lake Geneva shoreline. The demonstration consisted of three blocs – one anti-imperialist, one anti-fascist and one feminist bloc – combining the struggles into one powerful mobilization and taking to the streets the righteous struggle of the people against the imperialist criminals.

Confrontations broke out as demonstrators showed their contempt against the summit. Fireworks were launched and the police were attacked throughout the demonstration with pieces of pavement, bottles, various debris found in the street and even fences. In general, everything that could be used was used to confront the repressive forces of the imperialists.
In a confrontation outside the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union (ITU) agency’s headquarters – the clashes intensified as the demonstrators attacked the building of the imperialist institution, destroying windows, doors and the security cameras.

During the whole demonstration the anti imperialist comrades showed a strong proletarian internationalist spirit proclaiming the legacy and importance of the People’s wars and with great dedications upheld the 40th anniversary of the Day of Heroism, the 19th of June of 1986, which has been established by the Maoists of the world as the International Day for the Revolutionary Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War, the comrades honored the almost 300 fallen heroes of the Peruvian Revolution who fought years ago, gave their lives on the 19th of June 1986 in the Shining Trenches of Combat of Lurigancho, El Frontón and Callao, in service of their struggle for the triumph of the Peruvian Revolution as part of the struggle for world wide Communism. Also the comrades took a firm stand saluting the glorious and unbreakable struggle of the Indian Maoists, to which a red salute was sent, honoring particularly the General Secretary Comrade Basavaraj who gave his life for the continuation of the People’s War against any form of capitulation and treason.
This demonstration was an important sign of what might be and most probably will be a revival of the struggle against these types of imperialist summits in Europe as part of the new and powerful wave of anti-imperialist movement seen in the whole word. In this struggle the newly founded Anti-imperialist League played a notable role, unifying a consequent anti-imperialist line in the midst of the broad movement, making in such a way a first powerful action to celebrate its founding.
